Hi everyone,
I have MS and PhD degrees from US. I am 37 now. I am currently from Bangalore.
I have planned to give IELTS exam within 3 weeks.
My CRS score (before creating Express Entry profile) is 437.
I had few questions. Please help me to clarify my concerns.
1. Will CRS score improve after creating Express Entry profile considering that my MS and PhD are from US University?
2. My wife's English is not too good. But, she can read and write simple English grammar. But, I feel that she will not be able to take IELTS exam. I will do my best in my IELTS exam, I am aware that I will not get additional points if my wife doesn't get minimum required score in her IELTS exam. But, is it okay if she doesn’t give IELTS exam?

You need to get the ECA done for your PHD, you will get maximum points for education. It doesn't matter from where you have done your PHD, whether India or US. They evaluate on course and it should be from authorized university.
Regarding IELTS, I would suggest to have your spouse give IELTS, it will give you atleast some points from listening and reading section where you do not need to know much of grammar but some tricks. Based on my exp, IELTS is all about knowing the tricks , if one knows that then an average grammar can also workout.

Thank you so much for your suggestions and information.

If my wife’s ECA cannot be done, but if she gives IELTS exam and get score such that it will compensate for the points that I had lost for not getting her ECA done, so then, is it okay if my wife’s ECA is not done provided that she gives IELTS exam and get score that will be added to the CRS score?

From May the dynamics of IRCC score cut off completely changed. With 437, points it is really difficult to get OTA and the general cutoffsis 459 till now.
In this situation you have to think of ways by which you can increase your score. Definitely your spouse ECA and IELTS will give you that boost and increase your score.
You can enter the pool without our spouse ECA and IELTS and in parallel initiate her process.
You check in below tool and do the permutation and combinations and see what works best for you

Okay. Thank you so much for important suggestions.
Hi everyone,
I had a couple of questions about IELTS.

I am the principal applicant. My CRS score is 436 before creating express entry profile. I am aiming towards PNP to obtain PR since my background is basically Mechanical Engineering and I am currently working as Assistant Professor at a college in India (NOC code 4011).

1. Is it really MANDATORY for me to get L8, 7 each in R, W and S in IELTS to ENTER express entry profile and OBTAIN PR through PNP?

2. I am aware that if my wife takes IELTS exam, it can help me improve my CRS score depending on her IELTS scores. But, is it really MANDATORY for a spouse to take IELTS exam to obtain PR through PNP?

It is mandatory for Main applicant to have IELTS score and ECA report. However for spouse it is not mandatory. You only need spouse details when you want to claim points.

Main applicant should have minimum of CLB 7 score i.e. 6 in each section. However for some trade jobs lower than CLB 7 is also okay.

Okay. Thank you so much for all the important information.

Can you please tell me the website, exact procedure and details related to obtaining PR through PNP?

I am from Mechanical Engineering background. I am currently working as an Associate Professor since last 4 years at a college in India. My NOC code is 4011. In which provinces, there is likelihood of more Mechanical Engineering related lecturer or professor jobs?

Dude get your wife's ECA done. If it's bachelor's, it'll fetch you 8points.

Let her take the IELTs. Even if she scores clb5, it'll fetch you 10points. So in total you can gain 18points. Don't let go off it.

Hi all,
I have bachelors degree in engineering from India.
I also have MS degree from US and
I also have PhD degree from US.

Regarding WES evaluation for Express Entry skilled worker BC PNP,
is it necessary for me to get all my degrees (Bachelors, Masters and PhD) evaluated by WES
or
is it enough if I get only my Masters and PhD degrees evaluated by WES?

Preferably all but you can opt for Master's and PhD as well. Though all the degrees should be evaluated as it has to be at par with Canadian education equivalent but as you've mentioned, your Master's and PhD is from US, it'll be at par. So get your Master's and PhD evaluated.

Good luck.

No, just get the degree evaluated for which you're claiming points. If you're claiming points for PhD, just get that evaluated.
