Hi!

I have one question. Me and my partner are applying under conjugal partnership. He is canadian and Im from finland.
he got approve as my sponsor and now my part of the papers are in london...in process.
We got letter from london where they said that they want more information about our relationship
and more aprove that we commited to one another. etc so now we have been thinking about register our relationship in finland.
In some countries it is called civil union. But now we are wondering would that harm our application.
Can we still apply under conjugal or if we would have to change the name of our application would we have to start all over again.
because they have all the information but now we would be just in registrated partnership in finnish law. So that should tell them that we do have commitment. Right? I don't know if my message makes any sence...but if anybody can help I will very greatfull! Thank you!

Hi Fin,

My partner is finnish too! How cool!

Anyhow, can I just ask whether your partner is now in London, Finland or Canada? if you are living apart and have not lived together for more than a year, you will not be considered common-law, or you are not married, you will not be considered spouse, as for conjugal partner, I think that is a tricky one, it is really meant for people who have a solid good reason to not be living together. Which category did you apply for?

If your relationship is genuine, it is best to get married my dear as being boyfriend and girlfiend is probably not enough for your partner to sponsor you (even though he is approved to be a sponsor). If you have lived together, show proof that you have, such as lease, bills etc with both your names on it.

We have been living together for 4 years and will be getting married so hopefully that would make our case more straight forward.
