Hi,

I came to Canada in 2018 and I received my refugee status in February 2019 then I got my PR in Jun 2022. When I can apply for citizenship please?

Thank you

I believe the answer is June 2024 if you don't spend any time outside of the country from Feb 2019 until then. Otherwise you most likely need to wait longer.

No, that is too early. June 2024 is the earliest it will be possible. At least 2 out of the 3 residency obligation years required to apply for citizenship must be post-PR.

Calculate the days sir
He have been protected person 3years 4 months which count half day so it’s for him 1 year 7 months then he is pr for 1 year so it’s 2 years 7 months so it’s mean he can apply even b4 December 2023

Nope. That's not how the math is done.

You need 3 years of residency within the last 5 years to qualify for citizenship. Up to 1 of those years can be pre-PR time, with half a day credit for each day of residency. 2 of those 3 years must be post-PR. The OP only became a PR in Jun 2022, so 2024 is the earliest.

Half day, Max 365days on temporary residence or protected status count toward citizenship days calculator. If you have had protected status for 10yrs, only 1 year will count.

Sorry for jumping into your conversation; I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out. I came to Canada in May 2018, claimed refugee the following September, had my hearing in court on Jul 2019 and became PR on Apr 2021. Now I want to apply for citizenship and having a hard time figuring out my status when filling my time in Canada. Before claiming refugee, I was on a tourist visa, and it was a temporary resident visa, but what happens after I claimed refugee and my passport was sized by IRCC? What was my status between sep2018 and July 2019 (when I became a Protected person)

You were under a removal order during that window since you claimed asylum. This period of time cannot be counted towards citizenship.
