The backlog alone is around 100,000. So, it will take a few years for them to be cleared.

As per administrative data released.. till sept-2012 total backlog was 94,895+10,422= 105317
By jan-2013 it must be around 80000.
55000 will be cleared in 2013 and rest will be in 2014.
Thus in 2014, rest 30000 of backlog applicant + new fswc applicants will be cleared before EOI intro.

Hi in the above link, under awaiting decision,

Total applicants awaiting decision as on Sep 2012 ( persons) 619,780 . This incl all the MI and eligible pre 2008 and other categories.
I am sure, some of these would have been finalized by now and the above number may have come down

Out of 619780 , 514,463 are All Other Permanent Resident Applications( parent/G parents/ spouse and kids under family cat) not skilled worker.

In addition, CIC expects to clear the FSW applications received to date by the end of 2014, three years earlier than originally expected.

If they issue 80,000 visas like in 2010 85,000 visas issued all backlogs will be cleared

Will it really be THAT limited? Just 5000? We expected a total of 55,000 applicants in 2013....
Any idea how many days it can take for that quota to be full? or an estimate of how many people apply per day...maybe based on past years?

This information is not relevant anymore because it is old (Kenny is notorious for changing his statements time and over) and just does not make sense in the light of the new info they have released. We have three sets of info right now:
1. They plan on clearing all applications to date by the end of 2014
2. They are sending the May applications at the back of the queue (the most recent info)
3. "This means by the end of 2013 we will be able to process new applications as they are received – a “just in time” system – and aim to process them in less than a year."

Statement 1 and 2 are more recent than statement 3. Hence, if statements 1 and 2 are correct, then statement 3 is plain impossible. The first of May applications will have to wait until all the backlog is cleared (by the end of 2014) before they are processed.
It seems that at the time statement 3 was made, they were planning on processing May applicants either simultaneously or ahead of the backlogged applications. This clearly has changed since now they want to process May applicants after everybody else.

"The May intake of new FSWP applications will be very limited & will go to the back of the queue, behind MI-1s (except for AEOs)"

The whole thing is just unfair. We have life to plan and we been putting many things a side, because we don't know what's gonna on with our applications.
