Hi there , nice to meet you all that's my first thread in the forum even though i followed it for some months and you really helped me! so thank you for that!

I just wonder, on the Background check, what will they really check? if i really lived where i said?
For example, i traveled outside my country for a year plus (in Canada as well). i gave them some address of places and hotels i went to (from what i could remember) do you think CIC will actually call them to confirm my stay there? other countries borders? call my past employers?
just want to know how serious the background check is and why it takes so long! (inland...)

Yes checks are made, how many and how detailed is their choice.

Why is inland slow, lots of reasons, but one reason is because you are with your family, so you are not a priority


Unless there is a very good reason, most people are better off applying outland (you can do this and still be in Canada).

Background check is made for countries you have lived at least six months since you are 18 years of age.. You can speed up this maybe by providing a Police Clearance to each country you have lived for at least six months since you are 18 and submit it to CIC. Immigration also checks all your membership to any associations/organizations/clubs and if you are a member of a Military. Immigration just want to be sure that Canadian security and health are not at risk when accepting applicants,,

I am just wondering what are the additional checks they do for military job. My husband was in navy, reacently he left job and I am sponsoring him and my dependent child. By the way he was also included in my PR application as non acompanying spouse and completed medical in 2008. Do you think they did the clearence for him when I applied for my PR? My PR application didn't take long time when I applied. Now I am really worried because singapore processig time is 22 months. I really miss my son who is now 1.5yrs.
