Hi there,

I'm a citizen of Canada and opening a restaurant in BC. I found an artist from Europe who could make all the interior design + paint murals and I want to invite him to Canada with a temporary work contract.
Does anybody know if I need to obtain LMIA? Can I even hire a foreign artist on a temporary basis if I'm just starting up my restaurant?
The thing is that I cannot find somebody here in Canada to do the work because I need that particular artist with his unique style.

Would appreciate any help!

Yes - you need to obtain an LMIA to hire this individual. Once the LMIA is approved this individual will then be able to apply for a temporary work permit.
