Do I have to link my paper application online? Or the embassy/VFS will e-mail me for updates, like Additional requirements, etc.?

It's all upto you. If you have provided your valid email address in application, then they will mail you every week regarding status of your application.
It's not compulsary to link paper application online, If you want more detailed information regarding status of your application then you should link otherwise just wait for result

That's really helpful! I'm just concern if they might ask additional requirements, because I didn't linked my application online. The last e-mail I got from them was my application was already transferred to VFS Manila. Thanks a lot!
