Hi,
On the form "Schedule 1" Item #9, there is a set of questions requiring a YES or NO answer. The question reads:

Have you, or, if you are the principal applicant, any of your family members listed on your application for Permanet Residence in Canada, ever:
- applied for PR?
I have previously applied for PR, so my answer will be YES and I will explain the case. My question is when my wife is filling her own form, what her answer should be? She has never applied but was included on my old application. Looking at the positions of commas, my understanding is that her answer should be "NO". Am I right?

Thank you

I am the principal applicant now. What is your understanding of the question? Does that mean that if the person filling out the form is NOT the principal applicant, then the clause "or, if you are the principal applicant, any of your family members listed on your application for Permanet Residence in Canada," can be totally ignored?

I would answer YES with explanation since she was included in a previous PR application. I do not see how it would hurt to answer YES. But then answering NO may indicate omission of information.

That is just my opinion. I am not an expert.

Good luck,

john5655,
You are a native English speaker. Technically speaking, when the question says "if you are the principal applicant", "any of your family members", this part applys only if the person filling the form IS the principal applicant. My wife is NOT and she herself has never applied for Permanent residence. So shoudn't her answer be "NO" and then explain in the cover letter? Remember that this question has many other items such as whether or not the person has ben put in jail, etc.

I appreciate comments from other native English speakers as well.

did you pay processing fees for your wife last time around. I would think so. Then it should be yes since CIC will have record of your (and your wife's) application assuming you were married to her at the time of your previous application.

It is a definitely yes, the question also asks if any of your family member has applied for PR? You will say yes in your wife's case and will explain underneath that you being the rincipal applicant had applied and whatever happened with that application and will include the file number if you were provided one, Understand one thing, the more info you provide CIC with the more easier it is for them to process your application.
