My girlfriend (from Peru), and I are planning to get married in Manitoba when she visits this year. I would like to know what documents are required from her home country so we can legally get married in Manitoba. We are not planning on staying in Canada at this time, and perm residency will not be something to consider for at least a few years. I have read that all she needs is her passport and birth certificate (translated and notarized). Does she need any type of evidence such as an official letter stating she is single from her home country like I would have needed to get married in Peru? I'm assuming a legal marriage in Canada would be recognized. If anyone has any information or experience with getting married to a Peruvian in Canada, I would appreciate it, especially if you went through the process of having that marriage recognized as legal in Peru.

Thanks

Why would not you go to your Province Registry where you will have to get a marriage licence and ask THERE?

It does not matter where your bride is from. What matters is the requests for ANY foreigner to get married in CANADA.

I will contact them. I'm currently in Peru so it's difficult to go. I've found a general set of documents you need in Manitoba, but not sure if that applies to only nationals or foreigners as well.

Thanks

You also should ask in Family Sponsorship thread.

And I am am you I would think about backup plan to marry in Peru.

Because a chance for her to get a TRV (visitor visa) from Peru to Canada is slim. And her chances to get visitor visa 'to come to Canada to marry" is close to zero.
