I have a few questions and I am wondering if some of the 'immigration experts' can help me here. I qualified as a pharmacist in the UK in 2005. After which I moved back to Tanzania- my home country. I was in UK for five years. I practised as a Pharmacist for a year in Tanzania. I now work for Public health. I applied for the skilled immigrants progmram from the Nairobi office and the date my processing begain was Jan 2007. I applied under the old regualtions where we submit a simplified application from first( which we did). This is the only from I have filled. Now my questions

1) I recently recieved a letter form the High Commission in Nairobi in Oct 08 informing me that that this was my last chance to withdraw my application if I did not want to continue with the process(I do not intend to withdraw it after such a long waiting time). After this time I wont be able to do so and that I would be asked to submit updates at a later date. Does this mean that my application is close to being processed. Any idea how much longer it could take from here?

2) I and my husband both did our degrees in the UK. And we pretty much communicate in English whether its reading, writing or talking. Do we both hasve to do the proficeincy test?

3) If we both studied in the UK do we need Police certificates from there? How do I get these?

4) Just out of curiosity, would I, a pharmacist qualify for this visa under the new law?

Thanks in advance.

thanks PMM. In that case I am relieved I applied before the law change. Just a question though...

In the new law change I read that one of the requirements is to 'have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in one of the 38 qualifying occupations' One of that is Managers in Health Care. Would a Pharmacist not qualify under that?

Unlikely unless you were managing a hospital pharmacy.
