Hi there, I guess when you are applying SDS, most of you would choose CIBC's GIC program as it's fast and easy.
But here I would like to give those who haven't started to remit their money a little reminder:
when you remit the money, please ensure you use a bank account that belongs to your own name! Otherwise, it might cause delay of the money appearing on the GIC account.
It takes a long time and it is painstaking to refund. So please be careful about this.

If you have any problem related to SDS application process, please feel free to comment

Thanks for the reminder, I have seen this while opening the CIBC account but I might forget this.

May I know for which intake you are submitting SDS application? I am planning to submit mine in couple weeks, but the recent changes have brought lot of doubts.

I arrived in Canada in Aug 2023.

If you are going to study a Master's or Phd degree, that is fine. But for college, I don't know. There are lots of changes on rules related to PGWP. But for SDS application, there is not much changing. However, for now you might need an attestation letter for study permit.

Please I did a change of name and my new surname is the one on my passport and admission letter. My bank account still carries my old surname but my middle name and first name is still the same. What do I do in this regard. Can I still go ahead to do the GIC?

You should change the surname of your bank account which I think with official documents it’s easy to do so. When you applying for GIC it mainly relies on your First name and surname. After changed your surname of account, you can send money.

Hi there! I'm going buy GIC with CIBC and wonder how to fill in the Legal First and Middle name field. My name on passport is Middle Name - First name, but should I reverse it for this field?

For example: on passport it's Le (last) Thanh (middle) Giang (first)

Should I put in Giang Thanh (first-middle) or should I stick to the order Thanh Giang?

Thank you so much

You should stick to the correct first name and middle name and last name, not the order. That is, what is your last name is your last name. The name order on your passport is different but your first name should not change because of the order. So your first name is Giang , middle name is Thanh.

The thing is the field said "First and Middle Name" and I dont know which order I should put them in since they are not separate. If they are two separate fields, obv i know what to put in.

I dont want my middle name to become my first name by accident if this makes sense
