Hello! Just a quick one here! Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get my medical done in Toronto? Be interested to hear if anyone has had any really good or bad experiences with any!

Thanks!

I went to a place downtown at College and Bathurst (one of the ones on the official list). Were no issues, pretty straightforward (one thing to know in advance is they only take cash and bring dozens of passport photos). Pretty cheap too around $150 if I remember correctly...

Doesn't really matter where you go, as long as its from the list: http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medicalinfo.aspx?CountryID=2042&ProvID=15205&ProvinceName=Ontario&CountryName=Canada

There are tons to choose from in GTA. Just call around to the ones closest to you, and see what the prices are and wait times.

My fiancee used the North York location one on Don Mills Rd. It was also around $150 for everything, cash only. You do the basic medical at the docs office on the list, and they they send you to a lab to do the x-rays which may be at a different location.

I remember needing 4 immigration photos... but with new medical rules i really don't know how many are needed these days. Best to ask specifically before going.

Thanks michty. I'll probably go to College then since that's the closest one to me. People had mentioned that there were massive differences in price so $150 sounds pretty sweet! Considering it would have been over £300 in Glasgow! Cheers!

Yeh I was surprised it was so cheap compared to the prices you see elsewhere. I can't remember exactly what happened but I read somewhere you had to bring something 4 passport photos and when I got there it turned out you needed 6 (this might have been 6 and 8 - can't remember the numbers). So I had to take the streetcar up Bathurst to Bloor/Bathurst and go to the booth in the station to get more taken. The point being, whatever number they say on the forms bring 2 more to be on the safes side ;)

You'll find where there is only 1 doctor to choose in a certain area... the prices will be much higher simply because the doc knows the applicants have no other options. In places like the GTA where there are over a dozen to choose, competition allows for the prices to come way down.

Well! Thanks so much for the good info from you both. I hate going to the doctor! Haven't been in 7 years (when I had to get my medical exam for going to Australia!). Here's hoping I don't have any hideous diseases that I don't know about. Cheers guys!

Hahaha well then it probably won't help to tell you that you don't actually get to see the medical results :o

Hehe. I know that. But they do have to tell you if there is something seriously wrong with you! Only if it's an immediate concern though!

Went to get my spouses medicals done in oakville.. We had an instance during our process that the embassy could not find our medicals, our medical office helped us out so much to help things get sorted out. I reccomend them to anyone going to get their medicals in the Toronto area, worth the drive!

Thanks mc1234! I'm gonna stick to downtown though as I'm a city boy from Scotland and can't drive! ;)

Which medical office in Oakville did you go to mc?

A few months back I was looking for a place for my husband to do his medical. The medical office on Jane St. said $230 or $260 ( can't remember the exact price she said) to get them done.
