Hello,
I applied for a temporary work permit (for me) and a visitor visa (for dependent) ONLINE from the USA. It was done on 17 OCT 2013. They change my status as below on 30 NOV 2013.

Application Status: Open
Review of medical results: Not needed at this time
Review of submitted documents: No additional documents are needed at this time
Scheduling an interview: Not needed at this time
Review of biometric information: Not needed at this time
A final decision has been reached: Not Started

I supposed to leave US by the end of this year. I worried with this slow process time. Do anyone have similar problem and how long it will take for final decision.

Could anyone give some idea to contact them? The number given in call center doesn't work from the US.

I think the processing time for Canada Visa submitted in USA is 3 months,

Check the link given below, i think you have submitted through online.

All the best. You need to wait Upto jan or feb for a complete result. If there a delay after that you can contact them through mail. I don't have any idea about Telephone numbers.

But I applied online. I guess it directly respond by Ottawa rather than the their embassy in the US. The time for visitor visa is currently 37 days and work permit 18 days. It already passed several days shown in webpage.

Even though you applied online, i don't think it will be proceed on Ottawa, because it is applicable only, if you are inside Canda. I think your processing time is 3 Months.

I am also in the same situation. I applied online for TWP on 12 November 2013. My status has changed online on 30th November 2013 that final decision has not started.
I am still waiting for the visa approval. I also have to start my job by 1st Jan 2014.
As it says that the processing takes 4 months for TWP for NY embassy and it is one and half months since I applied for visa. I am hoping that they will issue the visa sometime in January 2014 or Feb 2014.
The website says 80% of applications will be processed with in 4 month time. Hoping that my application falls into that category.

The above mentioned processing times by you are for the applications from inside Canada. For application from US the processing time is 4 months for TWP (NY embassy) and 3 months (LA embassy). So it may take 3-4 months (12-17 weeks) for processing 80% of cases. There are always exceptions that some people get visa approval with in a week or two. Always depends on your luck and case officer situation (I guess).

As a matter of fact, I have TRV for Canada valid up to 2017 and my wife has TRV up to 2015. We thought that having TRV's valid may help TWP process faster but it does not look like that.

Have you tried emailing Ottawa office? If not here's their email address: CPP-CTP-OTTAWA-TRV-VRT@cic.gc.ca

This was given to me by NY office when I contacted them about my online visitor's visa delay. They also told me that all ONLINE TRV applications from North America are processed in Ottawa, so it's Ottawa's online timeline that we should follow!

CPP Ottawa takes care of TRVs only and may not the first time TWP applications; as per the information online. First time TWPs are taken care by Case Processing Centre: Vegreville, Alberta.

I am not really aware of that. Is there an email address that can be used to contact Vegreville? I don't think people from US can contact CIC's office in Canada by phone. Since I will also be applying for work permit online in a few months from the US, it would be helpful to know where exactly the online application is processed. CIC's website is a bit lacking in information about applications submitted online.

It means they have not started working on your application. I know it is not a good situation for you guys. Hope everything works-out. I am also in the same situation and my application status also says the same thing. Only thing is I have my job here in US until March 1st. I applied online on 11 November 2013. Good luck to both of you and for me as well. It is a wrong timing for the TWP applications as it is a holiday season and then new year's student visa applications. So the priority is Visitor > Student > Work visa. On top of that due to employee strike in june-july-aug 2013 the processing of application takes 4 months for TWP.

I live in US and for past few years have not been to the countries that require medical tests to get Canadian visa. In the online application, they ask you that whether you have been to the following countries in past 6 months (if so you need medical test)..and I did not. I hope they are not going to ask me.
I did not get any response from CIC yet. May be Today or Monday or in January 2014. Waiting .......
