Hello everyone!

Hubby (American) and I are about a week away from submitting our application! (eee so exciting!)
I just have a few quick questions!

1. I am moving to a new apartment September 1st. Should I include this address on my paperwork? Is it OK to show a date that has yet to pass as the move in day? Or should i wait until I have actually moved and then submit a change of address?

2. Hubby is applying as an "out of Canada" applicant. He will, however be coming to stay with me me (long term) as a visitor after we submit our application. I already understand that he needs to express dual intent when he crosses the border from the USA. Now, I had resident status in the USA (it is now voided as I never moved there- I have always lived in Canada) and we will be bringing some household items (kitchen appliances, a bed, TV etc) to Canada after the application is submitted. Will we have any issues with border crossing, or have to pay duty tax on these items?
Also, can someone confirm that there is no paperwork to claim dual intent- it's just a verbal statement that the office will record.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

1. The address needs to be the one you are currently at. It's easy to change the address after you submit the app.

2. No, he doesn't need to "express dual intent". It's not something that needs to be mentioned or explained. He can just tell CBSA he is coming to visit his wife. If questioned further, he can show proof of the PR app and say he is visiting while it is processed.

As for the goods, showing up at the border with a bunch of household items is a good way to end up refused entry and possibly even issued with a 1 year Exclusion Order. Genuine visitors don't bring beds and TVs with them. Leave that stuff in the US until he becomes a PR.
