Hi guys,
Singapore wanted a copy of Birth Certificate along with landing fee, photos. My question was why did they send back my wife's original birth certificate and asked for it again. BTW the original was not notarize. Please help PMM before I send it to Singapore. please tell me then how I send it to them before it gets rejected again. thanks

1. Was it in English? If not it should have had a notarized translation. Otherwise send them a notarized copy. They don't want to keep the original BC. (Although If it was in English, why they didn't just make a copy of it.)

on cic site they say that they accept documents in English or French. if your birth certificate is in other language they require a notarized copy with certified translation. thyat might have been a reason why they sent it back to you.

thanks for getting back to me. It was in pure English in original copy. But I have no clue why they send it back and want a copy of birth certificate again. But anyway, we will notorize in english and sent them a copy. One question, is asking for the landing fee good sign of getting passport request? thanks

Don't quote me on this, but is it because you sent an original when they want a copy? They ask to send photocopies of documents unless instructed otherwise. That's my two cents anyhow!

Maybe you spilled something on it?

A friend of mine had spilled coffee on his copy (not an original) and sent it in, they requested a new one, his FOSS notes (inland application) said they were upset about this and concerned that it was sign of alteration (on the copy you cannot smell the coffee, hehehe!) and needed a new clear copy.

So if you spilled coffee on your birth certificate it can be a problem...

This is most likely the reason. We sent our original marriage certificate and my husband's original birth certificate (both in English) with our application, and both documents were sent back to us last week. This week my husband got a letter requesting copies of our marriage certificate and his birth certificate.

I know they have their rules to follow, but I imagine it costs more in time and money to return the originals and request the copies. Just have to play the game, I guess.

It struck me when he said "We sent an original" and "now they are requesting a copy". I know they can be nit-picky like that! =]
