Yes true. I just realized that I cannot open it. I'm not in India btw.
further, whats the maximum value of cash inflow that you do not need to show the source? for example I have about 20,000 unbanked Sri Lankan Rupees (Aprox 160 CAD) which I want to put in a FD . and I'm planning to include this also for my POF. do I have to show the source for this also?
People suggest to show the source of any amount equal or above than CAD1000

I exhausted most of my savings for my masters. I will be taking money from my father as a Gift for Proof of Funds. Will low balance during other months and a sudden CAD 12300 balance in the current month cause a problem if I am uploading a gift deed stating the 12300 is a gift from my father?
No problems. Upload gift deed and proof of transfer ( cheque/ internet transfer receipt)

Dear Seniors,

I know I have asked these questions party several times but I really want to be 100% positive about the docs/proof I'm providing as I'm doing everything all by myself. so please bare with me.

I obtained the funds from my mother as a gift last month and I opened an FD. I wish to show only the new FD account and not my other bank accounts as POF. I'll be providing the following as proof of funds. it would be great if someone could confirm the following and advice me if any other additional documents/supportings are needed.

1. Mother's bank statement (1 Month) which shows the transaction (a cheque transaction). do I have to show 6 months or only the month where the gift from my mother is visible?
2. Mother's Employee Provident Fund (EPF) remittance form, as she gifted the money after she cashed her EPF fund. - is this necessary, or good to have or can I omit this as this is in black and white?
3. My Bank Statements - do I have to show 6 months or only the month where the gift from my mother is visible (Note: I would not be using this account to show my funds. Only the FD account)?
4. Photo-copy of the cheque - (I do not have a colour scanned copy: will this be an issue?)
5. Notarized Gift Deed
6. Notarized Affidavit
7. FD certificate
- as I transferred the whole gifted amount to a 3-month Fixed Deposit
8. LOE explaining the whole transaction

Do I have to get any other letters from my bank ? your advice is highly valued. thanks in advance

How do I get the Gift Deed made in India?

Also, are we required to submit past 6 months bank statements????
Visit a public notary and they usually have a sample ready ( or you can find one on this forum) give him your details. He will print it on minimum value of stamp paper as applicable in your state. Donor, donee and witness will sign it. Notary will put his stamp and you're done.
Statements are required only if your bank letter is missing some information like average figures or if you want to highlight certain transactions in your statement and want to explain them using LOE

Where do I explain that I have had to accept the gift of funds from my father because I exhausted my savings for my future studies? In the LOE? Or is it not necessary to mention it at all?

You don't need to explain it. Upload gift deed and proof of transfer ( cheque/ internet transfer receipt). Don't go for cash gift.

Not required but ok

2. Mother's Employee Provident Fund (EPF) remittance form, as she gifted the money after she cashed her EPF fund. - is this necessary, or good to have or can I omit this as this is in black and white?
Not required, as the gift deed would mention that it is part of her earnings and savings.

3. My Bank Statements - do I have to show 6 months or only the month where the gift from my mother is visible (Note: I would not be using this account to show my funds. Only the FD account)?
If you're not showing the account their is no use of statements.

4. Photo-copy of the cheque - (I do not have a colour scanned copy: will this be an issue?)
Fine

5. Notarized Gift Deed
Ok
6. Notarized Affidavit
Ok
7. FD certificate
- as I transferred the whole gifted amount to a 3-month Fixed Deposit
Ok
8. LOE explaining the whole transaction
Ok

No other docs needed, however if there is a mention of your account number in your FD certificate then do get the letter from the bank as per CIC format.

thank you so much for your reply.
like I mentioned ill be showing two FDs: one with the gift from my mother and another with a small amount of around 200 CAD.
I'll be getting a bank confirmation letter which states the FD account numbers and balance along with the dates created. However, the bank doesn't provide any average balances. not required as this is an FD right?

How much does it cost to make a gift deed in India?
There is a notary in my area who told me he would take INR 5000 to make a notarized gift deed

Is it supposed to cost this much?

No, not at all. It'll cost you around 200-300 bucks ( INR).
Visit another notary
