Hello everyone. So I'm gonna cut right to the chase. I applied to the University of Ottawa for fall 2017 for Bachelors of Commerce in Finance program and got accepted. I also applied for my student visa and got that approved too. My visa is for 4 years. My program was supposed to start on September 1st, 2017 but at the last moment, I decided to not go to the University of Ottawa due to family issues and also due to a slight change of mind. I stayed back and did not go to Canada and decided to start from January 2018. I did not issue the "Study permit" which you're given once you're in Canada. Now, I decided to change my university and get into a better one and also pursue a different degree so I applied to Dalhousie University for its Computer Science program and got accepted there too. I accepted their offer and have also paid the admission deposit. I opened a cic account with GC Key and linked my paper application with it. Lastly, I updated my DLI ( Designated Learning Institution) number and have entered Dalhousie's DLI number, my new Student ID and also the start date. So is this it or is there anything else to do to make sure everything's okay with my visa? Will I face any problem? Can anyone please tell me if there's anything else that I need to do? Am I in the clear? It'll be great if you help me regarding this issue. Thank you.

If you stayed back and didn't apply for semester defer at UoOttawa, most probably Uni. has sent your details to CIC and your study permit stays
cancelled.

Before the DLI change you need to withdraw from your current program also. Even if you were to be in Canada not attending as a student for 90 days makes you lose your student status.

You seem to be in a very uncertain situation. Call CIC to know better

I did withdraw from the program from University of Ottawa. I did that back in August. I am enrolled right now in Dalhousie University so that fills the requirement, right? What should I do now?

I did inform cic about all of these in complete detail and they haven't raised any questions regarding this. They just mentioned about transferring the DLI number which I did. I have their copy of email and I've printed it out and I intend to take it with me when I'll be heading to Canada. Btw, after you change your DLI and enter a new one, is a confirmation email sent to your email account? My process was successful and the whole "Your DLI transfer has been submitted to...." came up but I did not get any sort of confirmation email. Is this how it is or am I supposed to get a confirmation email?

I don’t know about this, I have never done it but what I know for sure is you only have to change your DLI number on GCkey or myCIC for this
