A bit shocked about things in our checklist

So we finally got to our checklist and a few things surprised me. I (the spouse) have been asked for the following:
- Employment records of employment both abroad and in Canada (we got 0 points for this)
- Diplomas/degrees (again we got 0 points for this)

The main applicant got asked for:
- Employment records (this didn't surprise us)
- Offer of employment
- Letter of employment

He does not have an LMIA (he's on an intra-company transfer). He received BC PNP nomination.
We thought that the offer and letter of employment are for those who got points for LMIA (???)

We have also been asked for proof of medical exams. I guess I misread the instructions here, as I thought we can do the medicals AFTER we submit our application (wait for instructions from CIC).

Anyway, does anyone know what a 'Letter of employment is'? There is no 'i' next to this section in the application.

Yes you have to get the medicals done before submitting your complete application and upload the proof, that is pretty normal procedure since the start of EE.

Regarding Letter of employment you need a letter from the employer stating that the applicant is currently employed in a "Permanent, Full Time and Non seasonal position" and the employment will continue after permanent resident status.

LOE means your employment certificate or you could say an evidence that you worked or working for the said company which includes your roles and responsibilities, hrs per week and etc and signed by the relevant person

How does the Letter of Employment differ from Employment records? In the instructions for Employment records it says to state the current position, responsibilities, hours, etc. Seems like the same thing.

So, first of all, the offer of employment is the original offer he got when he started the job, giving all the conditions of the employment. The letter of employment is the reference letter, stating current duties and responsibilities, when he began the job, current salary and benefits, and that the job is permanent. He did not get EE points for this, but got points if you were invited under CEC or FSW, so be sure to separate those two things in your mind when you are thinking what you qualified for. The same goes for your employment and education - before declining to provide evidence, check whether you got points under the program you applied under - not just in EE.

As for the medicals, make your appointment now. You don't need the results, just the paper that says your exam has been done, before you send in your PR application.

Basically, on the questionnaire, for the following question, I answered "Yes":

Does the candidate have a job offer in Canada?

I didn't understand at first that this meant that it had to be a job offer backed by an LMIA. It's not immediately obviously because there is another question at the end of the section that asks if the job offer is supported by an LMIA.

I have since changed my answer to "No" which has lead to two less supporting documents being asked for: Letter of Employment and Offer of Employment.

In short, you need to fix this:

I agreed with Karan-91. I am also in the process of preparing my PR application, and I have been exploring the impact of the answer to the question "do [your name] have a job offer in Canada". If you google "offer of employment" and "express entry", you will find this:

Offer of employment – Skilled immigrants (Express Entry) [note: Skilled immigrants include both FSW and CEC]

If you have a job offer (offer of arranged employment), you need to update your Express Entry profile in MyCIC with:

Employer name and address
Start date
Labour Market Impact Assessment number
NOC code related to the job
