Hi,

I am looking to migrate to Canada, most likely Toronto, in this year.
Currently I am based in India and am working as a software developer with 7 years of experience.

I have a job offer from 1 of the Canadian Software companies and will be working there on a Work Permit. While I am there, can I apply and get the PR as well ?

Also, as I have the offer letter, am I eligible under the Skilled Worker category or should I stay in Toronto for 2 years and go for Canadian Experience Class ?

Please suggest.

Thanks,
Ankur.

Ankur,

Congratulations. on the job offer.CIC usually accepts applications based on a criteria
i.e your profession, age, eduation ,funds ,language and adaptability.Check the skill assessment test on the website to find if u qualify.

By the way, how did you get this job.

The job offer I have is a temporary job offer. My employer has issued this after obtaining a positive LMO.

What I am trying to figure out is whether this offer letter can help me get some points for the Canadaian PR eligibility?
As this is an offer letter for a contract of 1 year, I am not sure...

Why dont you apply with this Temp Job offer?
Canada is hiring lotsa Irish workers these days with Temp Job offer. Good for Canada, no Burden on their Tax payer Free Health Care system, no Social Assistance (should not be available for Immigrants after 5 yrs of their 1st time landing in Canada)

Can you open a separate thread , you'll get plenty of replies.

Hi ankur,

How you obtained this job offer i.e. through any job website like monster etc or by any other means. it would be great if you could please reply.

Thanks.

You can apply via Canadian Experience class, once you complete 1 year Employment in Canada.
Current rules are for 2 years, but as per this article published they may change it to 1 year.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/releases/2012/2012-04-16

Once you complete a year in Canada, apply under CEC and you can get a visa in 8 to 12 months.
You may or may not stay in Canada.
