Hi all,

Hope someone can clarify this for me.

I am visiting Canada from the UK (UK citizen, no visa required). My intial visit was due to expire 1st Dec 2010 but I have recently had my visit extension request granted by CIC for another 6 months (up until June 2011).

The problem is that mid-January I may need to return to Europe for 4-6 weeks to sort out some issues with my UK business.

Once I leave Canada does that automatically expire / cancel my extension, as I would want to return to Canada after I have sorted out the UK stuff?

I think it does but just wanted to check.

Many thanks,
Nemmy

Yes. But then when you come back you start a fresh count :)

Right on!!! But if you can show proof that you're still coming as visitor, then you should not have a problem. Did you by any chance gave "exploring relationship" as the reason for your visit extension? :) Anyway, you can try but if the POE officer did not let you in because s/he thought you're planning to stay then there are other ways to complete the year of living together before the common law partner sponsorship can be sent. All the best.

Thanks job_seeker.
That's assuming they let me back in though!
