Hello everybody;
I reside in Canada, having a study permit, and I applied for permanent residency as a skilled worker through Buffalo. The following is my time-line to share;

-Nov 21, 2006: application sent

-Dec 28, 2006: got AOR, and e-cas said "In process- we started processing your application in Dec.14,2006"

-Aug 31, 2007: IA letter with request for medicals and a new proof of fund

-Sept 6, 2007: medicals done

-Sept 14, 2007: requested proof of fund sent

-Waiting, waiting and waiting: NO updating in my e-cas, and it`s still "In process"

-Nov 6, 2007: I send them e-mail inquiring about my case, they reply the very next day with the following;
"We have requested background information from other government offices(s). Unfortunately, we cannot provide a date when the processing of your application will be complete."

-Jan 6, 2008: I sent another e-mail inquiring again about my case, they reply the very next day exactly with the same previous response, which is;
"We have requested background information from other government offices(s). Unfortunately, we cannot provide a date when the processing of your application will be complete."

Now, it's almost 5 months after medicals, and I got worried. Especially that I have a very clear and simple background history in Egypt, where I'm from.

Guys, your appreciated responses will comfort my non-stopping mind, and give me a boost to be able to continue this dream time-game.

Thanks,
Samo

Hi Samo,

My advice would be to remain optimistic. I think you have better chances by lodging the application in country, because it took less than a year for you to be asked for medical check up and new proof of fund. So that is good news.

As a comparison, I lodged my application through Canadian High Commission office in Singapore. They have a very high backlog. Last time I checked, the CIC processing time for applications lodged through Singapore office, in average took 4 years to process.

I lodged my application in October 2004. E-cas read the same default line. Only in October 2007 the first time I received a letter from the High Commission. It requested me to complete one form, a statutory of declaration to be signed in front of a public notary. The good news for me, the letter also specifically stated that I have met the 67 passmarks and they will give advice to undertake a medical check up either late 2006 or early 2008. Although I still haven't heard from them, I keep the hopes up.

I hope this information would help.

Now that I'm becoming a Senior AMWA (After Medicals Waiter), I can speak with authority and ask you a rethorical question, what else can you (we) do other than to wait? The answer, look for posts in this forum you can participate to kill time.

My application timeline is similar to yours. I sent the application August 2006...resquest for medicals in April (pretty fast), did them in July, sent Aug 1st, and I am still waiting for... well, anything.

You are lucky that they replied to your emails. I have sent 3 in these last 4 months and nothing.

My guess is that your government agency is taking its sweet time to provide whatever CIC is asking for... I have a feeling that that is what's happening with mine

O the good side of things, a month ago I had the chance to go ask an CIC officer what was up with the waiting thing. She lookd at the computer, and repeated what they told you by email.

But she also said that "no news is, good news"... meaning that if you see your status updated with something unexpected, then you have reason to worry.

Otherwise, just look for questions you can post long answers to.

And like Broery said, compared to most, our applications are being processed pretty damn fast.

Oh, soon I will post a party-post to celebrate my 6 months "waiting after medicals sent" aniversary... everybody is invited to participate!

Broery and Yojimbo;
Thanks a lot guys for your nice and prompt reply. It's really a perfect forum where the one can find people like both of you. Anyway, your nice words, patience, and optimism will let me survive for more time of waiting.
Thanks and have a nice day.

Dear Samo

All the steps in your application processing are going very nicely. Do not rush for the completion of process. Please show patience and do not bother again and again the visa office. Good Luck

My situation is even worse ! It has been 10 months after my medicals ! I am extremely frustrated by this ! Any experts can show any light please ??

05/Oct/2007 - Application Filed to Buffalo, NY
11/Nov/2007 - Acknowledge of Receipt
17/Nov/2007 - Request for IELTS
16/Feb/2008 - IELTS taken (score 7.5)
25/April/2008 - Initial assesment obtained (interview waived), Medicals requested and additional documents requested (police clerances from FBI and India, Updated proof of Funds and US Tax return 2007).
15/May/2008- Medical completed, results sent next week to Ottawa
28/May/2008 - Additional documents (police clerances from FBI, Updated proof of Funds and US Tax return 2007) sent except police clearance from India
08/Jul/2008 - Police clearance certificate (obtained FROM India) received.

Since then, there hasn't been any anything from the Consulate. I have been extremely patiently waiting but nothing !

On 06/Nov/2008 a query regarding the status of my case resulted in the following response from the Consulate :-

Doesn't looks like 5 months to me it looks like more than a year now since you did your medicals.
