4 years study visa

Hey guys I heard that I could get pr with just studying in Canada for just 2 years now people are saying I can’t get it ,so I’ve changed to 4 years bsc program but still going to change to 2 years when I get the visa.

I applied for Computer Bsc 4 years but my intention is to study Computer programming diploma for 2 years which I’m going to later change it after I get my visa ,so if I’m to get visa now is it 4 years im going to get? If yes if I get the 4 years visa and then later change to computer programming diploma for 2 years , will Canada later talk about my other remaining 2 years if I don’t go to school or what??

If you want to come to Canada and immediately switch from the 4 year program to the 2 year program (without completing a semester of your 4 year program), then you need to apply for a new study permit and you won't be able to use your original study permit for the 2 year program.

What your friends have told you was the old rules.

IRCC introduced new rules recently. You would need to apply for a new study permit now.

Wow. Can an 18 years old be denied a visa cause of he’s studying 2 years diploma?

Whether you are refused or approved depends on your overall profile.

There's no guarantee you will get PR with 2 years of study. Generally speaking, you want to have at least a Bachelor degree at the time you are applying for PR. If you don't have a Bachelor degree already and don't want to study one in Canada, then I would recommend you complete a Bachelor degree in your home country and then come to study to Canada after you have a Bachelor degree.

What you are proposing is a deceitful act that has been identified by IRCC in recent months as being a serious problem. This is why, if you do change programs, you will need to apply for a new study permit. Remember people who lie, fake, and try to find loopholes in the system affect their countrymen's chances in the future. This is why some countries have high refusal rates and others don't

Wish I could study bsc but my sponsor is only capable of 2 years what my agent told me was that after the 2 years I can start working then start school bsc is that possible?

That's not really how it works. You would need to pick between getting your PGWP and working - and taking BSc (which would require a new study permit). The big risk you're running in my opinion is that a 2 year diploma won't be enough to get PR.

I think post graduate work permit is okay , my parents have really tried for us ngl I can’t do bsc for 4 years I’ve like 7 sibling in US and the currency exchange here in Nigeria is bad like really bad.So if I apply for pgwp can I later get pr? ‘Without bsc’

PGWP has nothing to do with PR. Means that PGWP does not affect your chance to get a PR status. It will depend on you, your profil, your language skill (english and french), if you have a skilled job, etc.. What other are trying to say is that, there are numerous people with a B.Sc on the job market. How will a 2-year diploma be a competitive advantage for you in comparison with other B.Sc holders? A job in NOC A,B or 0 is and will be an essential requirement for international student to get PR. I believe that policies are gonna be stricter on this aspect in the future,
So 2-year diploma is not bad, it may just not be enough for you to secure a high skilled job in the future.
(Not to mention that a 2-year diploma will not let you pursue any higher education if you may ever want to. You will have to spend more time to complete a bachelor. More and more people will want to come to Canada and get PR. Make yourself special and desirable enough for Canada to offer you a PR.)

You can certainly apply for a PGWP. However there's no guarantee you'll get PR. You aren't really setting yourself up for success with only a diploma. You are going to be competing against people with not just bachelor degrees but also master's and PhDs.

It's fine to come to Canada for just a diploma as long as you know that PR is far from guaranteed.

You can certainly apply for a PGWP. However there's no guarantee you'll get PR. You aren't really setting yourself up for success with only a diploma. You are going to be competing against people with not just bachelor degrees but also master's and PhDs.

No. On PGWP you CAN NOT study. It`s a work permit so you are only allowed to work. If you want to study, then you have to apply for a new Study Permit then pay tuition as an international student.
