Hi everyone

I need your help, I am new to the this whole immigration process. My husband and I started this whole process last year March (2015) and created an express entry profile and then got invited to apply for permanent residence. We had so many hiccups when getting our documentation through government agencies as we are both originally from South Africa and my husband is a New Zealand citizen and I am an Australian citizen so we had to deal with 3 countries to get all our documentation together. Eventually, we got everything submitted in October 2015. A week after submission the application updated and our medicals were passed and we were asked for more documents. By the end of October we provided all documentation and have not had an update since then. We are extremely unhappy where we live and are unhappy in our jobs so we are wondering if we are waiting for nothing or if we should start looking at other options as our life has pretty much been on hold for the last year - even stop trying for a baby just because we didn't want to complicate the application process. Is four months without an update normal? Is there a chance we are going to be rejected even if we provided all the documentation that has been asked for? We have no criminal history, great IELTS scores and medicals and I got my qualifications assessed in Canada. Just not sure what the hold up is? I guess what I am looking for is to see if anyone else's applications have been getting regular updates? I am just feeling a little lost and really want to move on with our lives. Any help, advice or guidance is welcome. Thanks, Tarryn

Try and get GCMS notes and see what the hold up is. Although I think it's completely natural for CIC to take that long considering they'd have to do Background checks for so many countries. If you don't know what GCMS are, just search through the forum and that should give you a good idea of what it is and how to request them from outside of Canada. All the best.

Hi RothApplication,

Sorry to hear about your story!
Well, I don't know what to say, because my application will be exactly 1 year after 1 week since I submitted last February.
During the year, I upload some additional docs twice at very early stage (around 2nd and 3rd month after I submitted)
However, after that...I got nothing. Until couple days earlier, just received some ghosts mail and only medical status changed.
Be honestly, nothing improved as far as I know.
I know maybe I am the extreme case. However, I don't think my case is complicate enough for CIC to take so long to verify.
But it just happened.
I do really wish your case will be finalized asap. I know how it feels.
Just sharing my status to let you know there's someone's situation much worst then yours and still keep positive mind!!
Good Luck!

Hi tempa, did you call CIC for this ? it is already over 6 months, you can ask for status over your application.
Hi RothApplication, you ll have to wait 6 months, and 4 months time is pretty normal. I know it is hard to just wait and put all ur plan on hold. But this is how it is.. We can only wait.

yeah I did.
and sent couple cse to ask about my situation.
but the answer is just under review.
nothing much I can do but endless waiting.... :(

Appreciate your patience and perseverance. Wishing you good luck to get the good news sooner.

4 months is quiet normal. I got my meds passed in 1st month itself and then no news for 4 months. By the end of 5th month I got my PPR email. Hang in there and you will see a sunlight one fine day :)

nothing to worried about. you are applying for PR, not a visitor's visa. it takes time. most of us are in the same boat.
