378 points FSWP - we're never going to get in! Or are we?

Good evening and sorry for the pessimism. :-X

We, along with the rest of the FSWP pool, have been waiting with baited breath following the updates in November.
Before and after we've stayed at 379 and hoped we'd have a better chance, sadly not so.
We can't possibly gain more points without a job offer and even then it would be at 50 points for a low/mid management job in a specialist role.
My wife has applied for many jobs in Toronto area but never offered an interview, yet has been applying for similar level roles in England and has been offered 3 jobs, which proves her applications and interviews are fine!

Applicant for permanent residence (PR)
Age 41
Bachelors. And studying masters degree
Over CAD $250K assets
Role seeking Anti Money Laundering(AML) manager
Spouse is 40
Children 5 and 15 years

What we want to know is;
a) is there hope of the score coming down low enough
b) any other positive suggestions of getting a job?

Any more info required just ask.

Many deliriously hopeful thanks in advance.

FSW scores aren't going to get that low.

Have you looked into any of the PNP programs?

Have you maxed out your language scores?

Not to make you nervous, but it's too much to expect to get the crs cut-off that low.

I guess, the most successful way for you to getting an ITA is improving your language scores. Try to score CLB 9. It'll boost your crs a lot.

Add to what is said above it is very difficult if not almost impossible to get any Canadian employer to be interested in anyone outside of the country unless they already are PRs or citizens or have unique skill not readily available and there are likely plenty of people in Canada with finance skills. Mentioned more success with job applications in England so assume you have right to reside in the UK as you have not stated your home country, the right to reside being the difference between applications for UK versus Canada.

Thanks for the honesty, we value that highly. She has averaged 8.5 out of 9 on the IELTS language system for English only.

We're interested in ON, BC, and a few others but not the northern terratories or other less popular destinations that seem to have active programmes running.

We are currently UK citizens with the usual rights accorded to live and work there.
We wanted to emigrate to Canada.

Any other suggestions are most welcome.

Your score needs to be at least 400 to qualify for the Ontario Nominee Immigration Program. So unfortunately that province is out unless you can increase your score or secure a job offer.

For AML, job offer is out of it for you as AML professionals are aplenty in Canada. No employer will extend you a job offer for that, your best bet is to consider the other provinces again where you may get provincial nomination easier.

you should look at PNPs...

i dont remember which provinces - but some provinces were willing to offer PNP if you had strong connections there... and if you are already working in canada it should make things easier if you have to move to that province (or staying there)

OINP was 400 when it was available, so check and see if you can improve score to 400...

good luck

Sorry for my late acknowledgement.

Many thanks to you all for the constructive feedback.

We are keeping up our hopes, but I believe we are never going to achieve our dream especially if what Pipis Husband is correct that AML's are aplenty over there.

We have other ideas in the planning stage which will see us remaining in the UK to fulfil them, so all is not lost.

There have been a few developments recently though, that my have some influence on potential employers, and I wondered if you would give me your opinion on my idea.
My wife is currently studying a Masters degree relative to her field of work and early on was contacted by a academic doctor in New York who was interested in publishing her work. At the time she dismissed the idea as fanciful, who would want to publish the work of a student.
More recently she has been approached by a senior member of Environmental Protection in Australia who is also a doctor in this field and has offered to publish her work. Now she is actively exploring publication with the two doctors.

So here is the theory: do you think it would be beneficial to refer to this potential publication within her job application covering letter or not bother until she has actually had some work published that she can refer to.

Thanks
Dave
