Just checked on CIC website and its 36 days for sponsor assessment instead of 47 :) I hope they lower the 17 months to less then 6 months as well for spouse.

Instead of 47 now it is 36 but it is mentioned 17 months... for sri lanka before it was 9 months.. but now it says 17 months.. so it is increased..so there is possibility for increased period.. worring about this matter

No. The 17 months is for 80% of applications across all VO's, so it really is a meaningless stat for most people.

I'd like to point out that processing times for VOs haven't gone up, it's just they changed the way people view processing times to what you said.

Let us hope this is the beginnings of shortened timelines.

For those thinking this has something to do with the government or some changes at CIC, it doesn't. The sponsor processing time regularly fluctuates between 30-90 days, depending on the time of year, number of apps, staffing levels etc.

Looking at the data (albeit only the last could of months), it seems that CIC may be putting in resources to reduce processing times. However, I am new to this forum so my sample size is limited. I guess we will not really know unless we work for CIC.

Based on your experience, have you seen sponsor processing times in the 30 day range? Are there seasonal trends in the data you've looked at?

Thanks,

Yes, I've seen the SA processing time around 30 days several times in the past few years, just as I've seen it at 90 days and everywhere in between. As I said, it fluctuates based on many different factors.

Does the SA generally come right after AOR? I got my AOR March 24 and nothing since.

Not necessarily right after - but it does indeed go AOR1 -> SA.
