Hi all,

I'm 32, and technically out of date eligible for Aussies to apply for the IEC. But I used the CIC website's questionairre to see if I could apply for a bridging visa - as my PR app is not yet finished and my IEC runs out in 6 weeks.
The CIC website said I am eligible to apply for a new IEC. Which is confusing to me.
So, should I apply for it?
And if I do apply for it, will it impact my current PR application which is in process?
I don't want to jeopardise that.

You can only bridge your IEC (very special circumstances only) if you file a CEC PR application. I am assuming because you are in the family class section that you are in fact being sponsored by your spouse to live in Canada. If this is the case, if you are eligible to be granted another IEC visa, then by all means go ahead and apply for it so you can continue working while you wait for the process to be done. It will have no effect on your spousal application unless you are denied and told to leave Canada AND YOU ALSO have an Inland spousal application ongoing. If you have filed Outland you can apply to be granted an new IEC visa without any negative things befalling your current PR application.

Hmmm, this is the sticking point. I don't think I am eligible for a new IEC but the CIC website said I was.
I did apply outland yes, for a spouse (family class) sponsorship.
What is the CEC PR?

CEC PR is Canadian Experience Class PR Visa. You end up at the same point, with a PR Visa in hand, but just got there using a different route and process. You are family class, so not CEC.

Cheers!
What do you think of the discrepancy between my understanding and the CIC's web system? Is the website likely to be wrong or am I?
