i have been in country on PR for last 3 years without any break and now applying for citizenship. In the form it is asking for last 4 years details. I came on PR and have submitted all the documents including police clearance. Do we need to submit again police clearance as I have lived 1 years in my birth country. I am confused
Actually the applicant is required to report address and work history for FIVE years prior to the date of application.
The four year time period is about total time spent in any particular country, other than Canada. Those who have spent a total of 183 or more days in another country during the preceding FOUR years are instructed to include a police clearance certificate from that country. A straight-forward requirement. This is about proving there is no prohibition arising from foreign charges or convictions in the four years prior to applying.
Typically helps to begin reviewing application requirements well in advance of the time for making the application. And, indeed, those PRs who plan to settle in Canada and become citizens should familiarize themselves with the requirements from the very beginning, and then keep periodic track to see what changes might be coming, and especially what changes have been made.
