3 months and not updates!

Good morning,
I'm posting this post because I'm very frustrated. I got my ITA on 2nd draw, February 7th for FSW (although I've been working 2.5years in Canada and was eligible for CEC too). I sent all my documentation, papers and pay all the fees 10 days later, on February 17th. Today, May 17th, has already been 3months since then and I have not updates at all in my ECAS or MyCIC. They haven't updated background check nor medicals or start processing my application.

This situation is frustrating because I have a family and our work permit expires this Friday 22nd. We applied on March 10th to an extension for our work permit which we haven't got an answer yet. My company wants to apply for an extension on my work permit based on their LMIA application and/or my certificate of nomination (AINP). But, I have a question about this, can I have two different applications to extend my work permit? or if the 1st one they say no when I'm in implied status they automatically reject the 2nd?

Anyways... I just wanted to say that I've been waiting and checking everyday my ECAS and MyCIC and nothing has happened since I submitted it. Should I call CIC? will that be a waste of time?

Have a good long weekend everyone...

Calling CIC wouldn't hurt, its pretty inexplicable that they havent updated at all.

And in my opinion (maybe someone else would weigh on this) it's no harm to apply for an extension on your work permit, whichever you get first you cancel the other, only glitch is losing the processing fee IF they started processing the other application.

I will calc CIC on Tuesday (Monday is Statutory holiday) and try to get an explanation.

My only concern about extending work permit is that they reject the first application and tell me to stop working.

It's not actually that unusual a case, I'm in exactly the same position. When I've called CIC they basically told me to just wait but it seems to change wildly depending on which call centre agent you get.

It'll be interesting to see what they tell you...

I understand that you are frustrated but you need to relax. The promised processing time is six months or less and as you are still well within that time frame there is no sense getting ruffled. On what basis did you apply for your work permit extension? It doesn't appear to have been based on LMIA or PNP.

There's no point in applying for another extension because you are probably close to the end of processing time for your current application and you would basically be starting the waiting time over if you submit a new application.

My first BOWP application is based on AOR, the one I got same day I submitted my documents to EE.

This second application is based on the LMIA my company is processing. The lawyer, paid by my company and processing the LMIA, is going to do the application in my name. What it scares me is what would happend if my first application got rejected when I'm in implied status. Would I lose my implied status even though the lawyer applied for another extension in my behalf?

CIC Website states the following :-
How long will my application take if I need a medical exam?

After a medical examination by a Panel Physician, the results are sent for review to the CIC medical office which serves your region. The CIC medical office will assess the results and send their assessment to the visa office which is processing your application.

Processing times can vary but generally:

For temporary resident (visitor, student, worker) applications, it normally takes four weeks after your medical examination before we will contact you regarding the next stage of your application.
For permanent resident applications, it normally takes three months after our medical office receives the medical examination results from the Panel Physician before we will contact you regarding the next stage of your application. This is true only if you have already complied with our other requests (e.g. to submit other documents).
