Immigration Minister plans to welcome 285,000 new immigrants for the year 2015. Among them, there will be 51000 allocated for federal skilled worker programme. So far 3000+ invitations issued . So there will be a dramatic rise on number of invitations in next draws to cater targeted number. (Can be reducing cut off mark ,etc) What are your thoughts,

51K FSW dont automatically translate to 51k ITA. The number includes accompanying family members. So the number of ITAs will be less than that figure.

I think it should be multiplied by 0.6.

No. Accompanying family members is not part of the FSW quota 51000.
You can find this from 2014 FSW process

Have a look at the numbers from 2014. The numbers admitted were 47300 even though we know the cap for FSW was set at 25000.

Those are just targets not actual statistic from 2014, so actual numbers could be different. There is still no information what actually happened in 2014.

http://www.fsw2014.info/stats-news/ In this site they state that just around 11500 applications out of 25000 were received by CIC in 2014. Do you think these numbers might be accurate, cause it would mean that there were not enought applicants last year.

But there also were NOC-specific caps. If some hot NOCs weren't capped, they would likely have received quite a few more applications.

Absolutely agree with you, also we could count extra applications not processed due to incompleteness or other reasons. But my main point is that if that number is correct and there were just around 11500 + few thousands applications after NOC caps why there would be 300 000 or more ( like some people believe) people in the pool? ( the number I took is just an example I found on this forum) we all still have to meet the same criterias, have the same funds, language etc.

What do you think?

Monija and rojiv94, You're right. I went and looked into the numbers for previous years and it seems the FSW numbers are for principal applicants only.

Here's the planned no. of FSW for 2013
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/notices/notice-levels2013.asp

and here's the actual numbers :
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/statistics/facts2013/permanent/02.asp

FSW target 55,300
Actual 34,167
Spouse and Dep target 48,300
Actual 48,977

And just like in 2014, we see in 2013 that less than target no. of FSWs were admitted. Going forward I think its improbable to think that there will be 51k ITA. The economy is hurt, Anti immigration sentiments are on the rise and also, this is an election year!

So ITA issued will be way less than 50k.

I find the 300k number hard to believe; my estimation would be several tens of thousands (of eligible profiles, not total profiles). For the last year analysis, we should also factor in the numbers for CEC applicants (cap was 8k last year, and it's been filled) and LMO people (they weren't counted towards the FSW caps) - I think the number floating around was 1200 LMOs in 2014. And one more thing: some NOCs weren't eligible under FSW 2014, but are eligible now. Also, I'm not sure how PNPs were counted - if they were included in FSW caps or not. So overall, at least 11.5k FSW + 1k LMO + 8k CEC + some people left behind because of NOC caps/CEC cap = 20k+ people (plus there would be more people this year with newly-eligible NOCs). But however large the unknown additional number is, I don't think it's in the order of hundreds of thousands of applications, maybe 10k-20k; hence my estimation, several tens of thousands - a number less than 100k overall.
