I apologize if there was already a thread on this topic. I looked and did not see one.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone that applied for Outland PR tried applying for an open work permit after SA. I know that everything states that you have to apply inland to be eligible but when I looked into the actual eligibility on the CIC website, it only states after sponsor approval. I was thinking of trying to apply just in case I can be approved but wanted to know if anyone actually had tried yet.

Where exactly are you seeing that?

It states pretty clearly that only inland applicants qualify. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=177&t=17

Who can apply for an open work permit?

You may be eligible to apply for an open work permit if you are in one of the following situations:

You are already working in Canada and your application for permanent residence has been approved under one of the following :
Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada class


Inland application package title: "Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada class".

Outland application package title: "Sponsor a Member of the Family Class".

Well, the actual experience comes from the fact that the website says "IN Canada". In all honesty, if you even tried, by the time you receive the permit (assuming you qualify but you don't) you would already be approved for your permanent resident card as an Ottowa VO….. it would just be an incredible waste of your money and some government worker's time.
