I have a question. I applied online for a new SIN number and received it today. However, my CRA account still shows my old SIN number. Should I open a new CRA account, or how can I update it?
I was really astonished that you received your eCoPR on September 17, then applied online for your SIN, and got it within just 24 hours. Normally, even if you only want to view your SIN in your Service Canada account, it takes at least 48 hours. On top of that, if you already have an account, it gets closed immediately after you apply online, and you must call them to open a new one. I’m amazed at how you managed to complete all of this within just 24 hours.

Canada will be providing 58,350 PR to refugees in 2025. Which is 20,000 for protected person, 15,250 for government assisted, 23,000 for resettled, and 100 for blended. They have already finalized more than half of the applications by mid year. Thats why the process is bit slower now. It will speed up again by the end of the year to finish the quota. To what i remember from last year, the processing time was 31 months at the end of year 2024. Then they separated the Quebec applications and the processing time started to decline. It came to 24 months in January 2025. Started increasing again and by june 2025 it became 30 months. Im trying to do some maths since all our applications are different to one another. We dont need to create another group or forum, this forum has alot of information. good and bad people are everywhere. Remember at one point we were wishing to be protected person. Maybe someone need it more than us. I go through these negative thoughts too, but what gives me positivity is that I’m working and managing my bills. Good luck guys. Sorry about the long text. I will be opening the forum after few weeks now (try the same).

Yeah you’re right. SIN application is all online now, and Service Canada has the new MSCA portal for a lot of things. Last time I extended my SIN with a new work permit, it was updated in less than 24 hours. Same thing happened yesterday I applied online with my eCoPR and driver’s license, and by Sept 18 at 3:08 AM my new SIN was already issued. I just logged into MSCA and downloaded it. I think for online SIN applications there’s no human factor, that’s why it’s so fast. For CRA, it’s slower. I asked in the group and then called a CRA officer they said it usually takes 3–7 days to update. Service Canada sends it automatically, then you just need to create a new MyCRA account.
For OHIP, I went to Service Ontario, filled out a form, and the officer said no need for a new physical card, just updated my status in their system. Driver’s license didn’t need any update either.
When you get your eCoPR, just apply and reply back here. Don’t be shocked, Canada’s actually trying to improve their system haha this is not bullshit, just try . Hope they do the same for hospitals too, ER waits are still 8–10 hours.

You applied on August 28! It’s been less than 21 days—are you sure? It’s been 3 months for me, and I haven’t gotten any updates despite contacting them six times

People should just be a bit sensitive and understand that some of us have had to wait over 30 months with no response till now . This forum is becoming a joke and it’s not nice at all.
I see what youre saying but i also dont understand how someone waiting for over 30 months is another applicant’s problem. Ive been waiting for really long too but i wont blame those who receive their updates faster than me. Thats just how IRCC is. They arent fair.

I’ve been waiting over 30 plus months now it’s not my file have some delays NO, I’ve contacted mp and got my GCMS notes both days everything is done on my file even last security as well told by my mp, so ircc is not working fast on files and they did not move further Feb actually may be some in March 1st. So if u says it’s not chronological they work that’s not true, in protected person PR they do go chronologically in some cases is a week up and down.

We all are waiting when they start processing again, I am sure they paused for now to everyone, that’s y in this group people pointing out for fake updates.

He explained really well and accurately, that’s how they are working and I’ve got same calculations and been noticing since last year and half.

As already mentioned in the fall things slow down because IRCC has often reached or nearly reached their 2025 quota. PR approval is approximately chronological. There is some variability even by a few months. As long as people are moving with the trend then all people can do is be patient.
