I agree makes no sense. Someone I know just got her citizenship after 5 months today. Very similar profile to me. She was suggesting that people should gather and go to media to expose unreasonable delays.
Same situation and timeline. My criminality is passed in GCMS notes too but see nothing about background check in my GCMS notes. On tracker says background and prohibition in progress. No update at all since March 2024. Does Criminality passed means background check is done?
Background is criminality + security.
2023 applicants are stuck in lengthy security checks.
Based on the update I received through my MP's office, my file was under background assessment. According to the GCMS notes I received last month, criminality has already been passed. However this is not reflected on the application tracker and there has been no change in status. It’s been over 2 years since our application was submitted bullshit broken system. I know people who applied in 2021 and 2022 have already received citizenship. Shameless officers with zero accountability of their work.
I read there is around 43000 citizenship files in backlog of ircc. I don’t know when mine will be picked up again last update was Nov 2024.
I am still stuck in security+ probation.
Everything else was passed in last Nov 2024. Nothing after that, I know my second fingerprint will be asked as last one was expired on Dec 2024 and security still in progress
I don’t have high hopes now that mine will be done this year as the slow response ircc have
Will see when I will be done but for sure that done I will party hard

The problem and pain isn't about 43000 applications backlog, the frustration is about unfairness and no accountability. I have a family friend who applied in Feb 2024 and have his passport in Oct 2024. How anyone can justify it with application from 2023 are still waiting!
Nothing we can do I myself waiting from Oct 2023 when I file my AOR was Nov 2023 beginning.
I tried everything but nothing seems to work so I just give up it will come whenever it has to, media won’t do anything. As there will be comments from people that citizenship is not right you can have patience and all that, you know how it is currently.
So the best bet is patience all we can do.
I applied beginning of September 2023. Still stuck on background check with no updates. Any idea where they are? Did they complete July 2023? Am I close?
No clue we all are waiting there is couple from January 2023 still waiting I believe here. So nobody knows when we will be done but for sure one day
By any chance you been on protected person status like got PR by refugee status.

There are many people who see their security finish in 2 years or so. But this is not a FIFO thing. Some September applicants will finish before January ones... Just sit tight a wait.
since when it was on hold ? or when was the first time you received an info stating its on hold (generally GSMC notes) ?
bcz on hold means they are not working on it, pending an investigation or smtg as per section 13
