Are you guys deferring to Fall2020 due to this travel ban? What are your universities saying?

Hey guys. I applied for study permit on 13th feb (paper based) with medical and police verification and linked it with gckey
The only update i get till now is “ you passed the medical exam”
Which was on 23rd feb.
Uptill now there is no update.
Is there anyone who is also facing delay that much?

I have applied on 11th march for may 2020, on 16th my biometric got updated after that no updates. I am really worried, will this coronavirus effect the decision. I have IELTS 7.0 with no less than 6, got GIC and other documents.

I don’t think they will grant any visa in this week from now as India is on a lockdown.

I applied and granted visa just before the outbreak but the thing is Canada has closed its borders to international students and it will most likely not be opened until September. So whats the point of applying for May intake anyway.

If you got approved before march 18 you are allowed to travel. Some schools might postpone May semester though so check first.

IRCC has limited it's operations to only critical services now. I don't think study permit comes under critical services.

Hope they process applications that have crossed timeline of more than 45 days.

If anyone knows..
If I go to Canada now, I have to self-isolate myself for 14 days. In that case, my accommodation should be ready and I directly need to reach there. But, how a newly landed person can get groceries etc in that case?

You can try ordering through one of the apps, this isolation isn't enforced unfortunately its completely voluntary at this point in most provinces.
