Hi all,
I have a question in regards to parental sponsorship, that it's answer could benefit others.
I landed in Canada in Feb 2016. My husband sponsored me via the spousal sponsorship program.
I'd like to sponsor my parents by entering the 2018 lottery.
As per the requirements, i have to be 18+ (which i am) and a Canadian Citizen or PR (which I am). There's also income requirements for the past 3 years (2017,2016 & 2015). I've been employed for the past year (2017) so i alone don't meet the income requirements. However my husband has no problem co-signing the sponsorship with me, in which case his income will be added to mine to meet the requirements.
Here's how it looks:
2015
my Canadian income: $0 (although i was working overseas - which i believe doesn't count)
my husband's Canadian income: 65k+
2016
my Canadian income: $0 (took a year off)
my husband's Canadian income: 65k+
2017
my Canadian income: ~$40k
my husband's Canadian income: 65k+
Concern:
Although the combination of our incomes meets the requirements, I as the main sponsor can only provide two notice of assessments (2017 & 2016) due to the fact that I've been in Canada for 2 years so far. Does submitting 3 years notice of assessments a separate issue than income requirements?
now that i wrote all this, i feel like i could have phrased the question alot simpler!
thanks in advance
