2017 November / Refugee Applicants from Azerbaijan Group

Hi All,


I am from Azerbaijan and I applied for refugee on November 2017 and my hearing was scheduled on March 19, 2018.

Unfortunately, my lawyer contacted me and told me that my hearing date was postponed because of the new press release, and there is no any rescheduled as well.

This group I created to gather together, who applied and share news about our hearing dates.

I hope soon everyone will have their hearing dates and will be accepted.

It is very difficult to be far from family and wait how long you do not know.

Also, I am looking other legal ways to transfer status. I heard about that in refugee status we can apply only for Federal Skilled Work status.

Does anyone applied and or knows other ways.??

Please share your informations and maybe it will be useful for other.

There are other 40,000 refugee claimants in the same situation as you. We are all in the same boat. Just be patient.
Get a job, start figuring out your new life here and wait for the refugee hearing.

Yeah keep doing it, I'm not trying to discourage you.

Is just that I've been in the same spot for the last 6 months and there are no ways of speeding up the process.

I decided to just embrace the fact that I will have to wait for at least 20 months and take advantage of the work permit and health coverage that the Federal Government gives us. Best way to adapt to the Canadian culture is by getting a job and integrate into the society.

I am not sure exactly about federal skilled workers, but I want to find good lawyer and ask about it.
