Hello everyone,

I just joined this forum as I am in dire need for answers.

I am a Canadian citizen and I am sponsoring my wife from Bosnia and Herzegovina where she currently resides.

On January 20, 2015, CIC received our application at the Mississauga Case Processing Centre.

On March 24, 2015, we received a letter advising that I had met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor and that the application was sent to Vienna for further processing.

When I check our application status on the website, all I have is the following:

1. We received your application for permanent residence on January 20, 2015.

2. Medical results have been received.

I also paid the fees in the amount of $1,040 up front, which amount was was already charged on my credit card.

Below are the questions that I would have:

1. Has the application been sent to Vienna? It appears as though the "application received" refers to Mississauga, given the date.

- Hi, most January applicants are at the same stage as yours. We are still waiting for the AOR2, which is the letter to be sent to the principal applicant by your assigned VO. Yours happen to be Vienna.

2. What should be the next step in this entire process, and when should we expect to see it happen?

- That would depend on the trend of your VO. My VO (Manila), for example, asks for the passport ahead of time at the start of the processing date along with other lacking documents. Some VO asks for the passport only if a decision has alreAdy been made on your application.

3. How accurate are the timelines posted on the CIC's website? The Vienna Office shows 17 months as waiting time.

- 17 months is the maximum time for applicants, but that does not represent the waiting time of the majority. Most spousal applications get approved in less than a year (again, depending on your VO trend).

4. When is it a good time to contact the Vienna Office to enquire about the application's status?

- A good time would be only if your application has exceeded the posted processing time for your VO. That is, exceeding 17 months for Vienna.

I would be extremely grateful if I could obtain answers to those questions, and hopefully I can answer some of yours in the future.

Finally, I was wondering whether there is an existing chart for January 2015 applicants and/or Vienna Office chart.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/tM74NnUGAArJ_-Tp0jJ2sAw/htmlview?pli=1

Thank you so much for your help.

- Answers written and inserted up there! Hope they helped :)

I'd just add that Vienna is a Regional Processing Centre, meaning they do national applications as well as foreign applications. As in the case with London, I would assume that visa-exempt countries are processed faster there. The posted times do not make the difference.

Is there a thread for the January 2015 applicants? If not, we can all connect here!

Class: Family / Spouse - Outland
Visa Office: Manila VO
Application sent to CIC: 2nd January 2015
Meds Done: 25th of October 2014
I have a question from you guys I sponsored my husband in 2005. He came to Canada in 2006. He was abusive to me when he immigrated to Canada and in 2009 I had to call 911, he was charged by criminal charge( assault) at that time but never went to jail. Can he sponsor his spouse now? (considering the fact that he was charged by criminal charges in 2009)

Hi All,

I applied for my wife visitor visa online on April 16. She's in China right now, but until now no answer yet. If I call CIC would they know?

By the way, I got AOR2 from HKVO yesterday~~

You may not be eligible to be a sponsor if you:

- did not meet the terms of a sponsorship agreement in the past;
- did not pay alimony or child support even though a court ordered it;
- get government financial help for reasons other than being disabled;
- were convicted of:
- an offence of a sexual nature;
- a violent crime;
- an offence against a relative that resulted in bodily harm; or
- an attempt or threat to commit any such offences, depending on the details of the case, such as:
- the type of offence;
- how long ago it occurred; and
- whether a record suspension was issued.
- were sponsored as a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner in the past and became a permanent resident of Canada less than five years ago;
- did not pay back an immigration loan, made late payments or missed payments;
- are in prison; or
- have declared bankruptcy and have not been released from it yet.

My wife received an email yesterday from the Manila VO with an Appendix A attachment which they wanted us to complete and send back.

Hey steveohan! Finally another movement from the manila VO. I have been eyeing your entry in the google doc, waiting for a color change since some applicants who submitted later than our dates have already received their correspondences from MLA. Hoping to receive mine within the week too. Im Kinda worried by now... :(

Did you receive a PPR?

No passport request. My wife is from a Visa exempt country, so they would not ask for her passport.

Head up buddy. I'm sure you'll receive some info soon!

I didnt get a ppr since she's from a visa exempt country.

Not sure what to think of the Appendix A request though. It seems to be requested either at the beginning of the process, or the end.

Stage 1 is equal for everyone, the stage 2 depends on the visa office.
Brazil is taking less than a month to issue a visa while Ottawa s taking 8-10 months.
