Good day folks,
I am a sponsor on my spouse's application for Permanent Residence (Outbound Applicant) The application in question was received at Missaussaga on Sept 8, 2015 and the appkication is a paper application. My sponsorship application was approved by Missaussaga in November 2016. The IRCC Telephone Update System informs me that, the interview stage was waived. The Medical Certificate for this file is in order. IRCC does not require anymore docs from us. However, IRCC has not initiated the review of my spouse's background check.

I am not overly concerned because:

1. My spouse's application is approximately 17 months (i.e 530 business days) in process, which is the average processing time for Accra.

2. My spouse has a positive background (i.e. Zero Criminality at home and abroad). In addition, she submitted an 'Upfront Police Certificate in September 2015.

3. The 'background review' stage is the final stage of IRCC eligibility evaluation.

4. I have paid the 'Landing Fees'.

Nevertheless, I seek information about this last stage from couples with either similar experiences or in a similar situation. Thanks.

Pls lend some clarity to paragraph 1. Are u suggesting that your background check has being ongoing for 20mths?

A GCKey account does not exist for the file because the GCKey system was not in operation for Outland PR application in November 2016. What do you suggest; in terms of background check history?

Hey guys. im a sep 2015 applicant too. It all has to do with when the security check started. For me its 9 months. My friend's husband just landed and his security check took 11 months. Just and FYI

Also a september 2015 applicant and we still did not get the visa. Security has been in process for 16 months

Your assumption was correct. I received an email from Accra a few weeks after my last post. I am glad to say the process is one step away from completion (i.e, when my spouse lands in Canada) My spouse's PR travel docs and passport was sent out from Accra yesterday. Thanks for the info.
