Hi,

I am from India and I completed my Bsc. in Animation and Multimedia. I am looking to study in Canada and I have shortlisted George Brown, Humber, Seneca college. The thing is I got interested in web development during my graduation and also internet marketing. I am pretty confused about what course to pursue. Should I do diploma or certificate course in Canada? Is there any value for Humber IT certificate course (2 years)

What are the job prospects after doing this IT certificate course?

If I fail to get a job i.e. any job (worst case scenario) I heard that I can still stay for 3 years after my 2 years study. What are some of the alternatives to payback student loan (only course fees).

I don't want to return to my country and tell me dad that I couldn't do anything after investing so much.

I also heard that as a Bsc. background I cannot pursue business related courses in Canada. Is it true. Because I am also intersted in studying marketing.

Please suggest and help me guys.

I am giving IELTS on Feb 22nd.

About me:

I am a mechanical engg passed in 2007. Worked for a dream company for mech engineers in India for 3 yrs where in my profile was related to CAD/CAM technologist and mechanical engg too.. Quit my Job to pursue Msc in Management and then worked for another giant steel industry belonging to India in UK. I have now returned to India as I did not like england. I am now applying for PGDM in project management (something specialized) along with having my PR application already sent.

About you:

If you have completed engineering, I would advice you to gain valuable experience in the same field first if you want to fly high in the future. Don't go for a vague field like global business management and all. Go for something specialized in engineering - CAD/CAM course is good. Since you don't have experience, I would thoroughly advice you to go for Masters in a specialized field in engineering, like Industrial engineering or mechanical engineering which will give you 3 years PSW then the world is yours.

In worst case, if you opt for management course without experience and just want a short course, then go for PGDM in project management which is specialized. You can then take up engineering projects and apply project management principles and develop skills over years. You can be a project manager to handle bigger projects in future.

Hello Rahul

it is strongly recommend that You should choose the course in Canada matched with your education background. After doing Bsc in Animation and multimedia if you will move to the management programs then Visa officer might have objection for this. Also Always choose high level program than your current qualification to show logical progress in your study. Web Development and IT program seems best for you. If you want to go for business administration program them I will advise you to apply for IT program then later you can change you program in Canada.

What if I change to another graduate certificate after Canada. Right now I decided with my parents to go for interactive multimedia course and then go for another IT related course or business course after this one. So my problem is I can arrange the tuition fees for the second program but I am not sure whether I needs to do gic and other stuff like I am doing now for the second course while applying inside Canada.

Also, after 1st course I plan to work during summer to gather some money as well. That's basically my plan to secure 3 years post graduate work permit and maybe PR later.

Lastly, if I get a decent job how long does it take to repay 19000 cad to Indian bank for my student loan. The student laon is another headache I have.

Well, You must choose post graduation level diploma in IT or Multilmedia, then after completing that one, You can take admission in another program. But it doesn't sound well. Better would be for you to take admission in the 2years co-op program. You can have opportunity to do paid work as well.
If your bachelor is consist of 4 years , then you should take admission in the Master degree. Master Degree holders can directly apply for PR in some province of Canada. If you get a good job, then hardly it will take one or two year to repay your all the debts.

Well there are no post graduate level diploma for 2 years in my field. And I already paid fees to Sheridan College for 1 year Interactive Media Management course. The best option for me right now is to do another course after completing this one I guess.
