2014 Cap 5000 Application Parent and Grandparent sponsorship

Hi,
Congratulations for successful submission. Now CIC has confirmed of receiving 5000 application mark and temporarily stopped program.

I have some question in mind as: I am not sure what does meaning complete application
1) have you used application forms updated on 1st January 2014 (as forms have changed numbers) - I have used new forms.
2) have you submitted Police clearance certificate? - I have submitted PCC.
3) have your parents have done medicals? - done medicals.

My parents application was received on early morning of 6th January and CC was charged (not sure what date)
Still no communication is received from CIC. No file #. Not sure when CIC will transfer file to New Delhi, India

If app was received Jan 6 and your CC was charged, then your app was most likely accepted into the 5000 cap.

But why did you do medicals for them?? You aren't supposed to do this upfront, since the parents applications take many years so they will for sure just have to do them again later. Same with PCC i think.

You might not receive any communication for several more months. And just the sponsor approval part may take several years, before the app is sent on to N.Delhi office. There are 50,000+ applications in backlog still ahead of yours.

What I understood from the launch of program that now CIC is well within reach of backlog. So they have this pilot to start with limited numbers of application. I am sure that CIC will start processing immediately, other wise this is big farce.

Why do you think that applications submitted in 2014 will take priority over earlier years applications that are still waiting? There still exists a big queue... It hasn't just vanished overnight.

What I understood from the launch of program that now CIC is well within reach of backlog. So they have this pilot to start with limited numbers of application. I am sure that CIC will start processing immediately, other wise this is big farce.

You should still expect the process to take a few years - just not as many years as it did before.

CIC isn't going to process parent / grandparent applications faster than it processes spousal / dependent children applications.

By 2015 there will still be backlog of close to 50,000 applications. Apps submitted Jan 2014 will probably not start real processing until sometime in 2015 or 2016.

Processing priorities


CIC will continue to process applications to sponsor parents and grandparents based on the first in first out principle. This means that new applications submitted in this category when the program reopens on January 2, 2014, will be placed in queue behind the applications in the existing inventory of sponsorship applications for parents and grandparents

There is a good chunk of May 2010 to Sept 2011 still left to be processed, no one knows how many apps are in that period so going by the 25K ( people, not apps ) cap of every year - my rough calculation for these new apps is minimum 4 years
