Shallow purple - congrats on your nomination.shallowpurple said:Both myself and my wife are Indian citizens working on H1B in US for more than six years. We have a son who is US-citizen. Recently, by god's grace and support from everyone, we had received nomination from NSNP. Now, we are asked to to submit the federal immigration application to CIO-Sydney. We had filled the Visa office as India (unknowingly but it seems managable)
We have specific questions w.r.t. the following in IMM5690E document checklist:
1. "Police certificates and Clearances: You must get a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18. You are strongly encouraged to submit your police certificates with your application to the CIO. If your are unable to obtain all the necessary police certificates, you may still send your application to the CIO without them. However, we strongly recommend that you take steps to obtain your police certificates now to avoid future delays. You must be ready to submit them when requested by an officer".
(a). Stay in India: As per CIC website /security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp (which says Non-Resident Requests Applicants should contact the Indian embassy or consulate.), we are planning to submit request for PCC at Indian consulate in SanFrancsico. Does any one how long it take for the Indian embassy to give the police certificates? Is there anything else required from India?
(b) Stay in US: We have received fingerprint reports from FBI. Is there anything else required for stay in US?
2. Paying fees: Which mode of payment is preferred? Payment on Internet or Using Payment fee form?
3. How long does it take after we submit the application to CIO-Sydney to receive PR (or COPR)? Any pointers or hep will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

1b) I would get a PCC from the USA too along with that from India. You've lived in the US for 6 years, and I reckon...in India too over the past 10 years.
2. Many factors affect payment preference. For me, online payment makes the process easier for the processor. You mail them the receipt - payment is processed and they can move on to other areas of file assessment.
3. Plan for a year being a provincial nominee (that is post nomination). Generally it's taking 17 months per CIC timeline for Ottawa Processing Center. I researched timelines on this site for PNP applicants filing via office in Canada. The key milestone is when your status reads "in process- IP". generally per current timeline, the in process stage lingers for 5 - 6 months. It goes from IP to decision made (DM) if no extra documents are needed, you don't have a common name that requires extra verification, and no complications. from the DM to request for passport it's not taking more than 2 months for applicants with straight fwd apps. Understand that this is a normal case scenario, no complications and all.
I'm also based in the US, and recently asked to correct documents - I was asked to change my visa office too. I plan on Ottawa as the New York office is closed. Any reason why you chose Sydney ? This may be helpful to me too.
Other tips:
1 - Starting August 1st, 2014- Information and fees relating to dependents have changed. Read it to see if it applies to you as you mention you have a child. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/result.asp?lob=pn&cat=perm
2 - I've heard on this forum that it's often beneficial to anticipate and "front load" documents and fees - That is...submit everything and pay for your Right of Permanent Residence Fee in advance to save yourself and CIC an extra step of inquiring from you, waiting to receiving it and then advancing on your process.
Finally -
Please fill out the form (see link in my signature)..this helps forum members with information to project timelines, answer questions etc based on the data points we have. We've been able to project and answer questions as a result of the benefit of the data we're collecting from other applicants so please take a moment and enter your details.
- Also, were you asked to correct any forms or for additional documents prior to nomination ? what were they (if yes ?). Thanks a congrats to you

I already got the fingerprinting report from FBI. Is that what is referred to as PCC for USA. For India, I am planning to get it done from Indian consulate. My question is do I have to wait for Indian consulate to give me the PCC or can I just proceed to the federal immigration application to CIO-Sydney (the instruction do say "If your are unable to obtain all the necessary police certificates, you may still send your application to the CIO without them", but wanted to hear anecdotal experience on it)

I didn't choose visa office as Sydney, I think you mean why did I choose New Delhi, India as visa office - well to be frank, I didnt knew. I am Indian citizen and our present visa (H1B) is based on job etc., and I want to play safe. So, Instead of choosing Ottawa, I choose delhi (in case I am asked for personal interview). I might have challenge sending the passport to India - let's see how it goes.

I think you should be truthful in your application and should say the approximate date when found about the it. You can add that I had document prepared well ahead in advance (just in case anything comes about).canadian_dream2015 said:Hello
