hi! jg84 you seem to be very knowledgeable :) im a newbie here id like to ask you about the OWP ... i got my AIP a couple days ago with a letter telling me to apply for OWP i already sent the application i was just wondering if you can tell me how long you think it would take for me to get it!
thanks in advance and good luck to ALL OF US :)
From what I have heard from people, it takes about 1 month but it can be up to 2 months as you qualify because you have the CSQ and AIP.

I applied for my open work permit with my PR application, so I got it the same time as my AIP so I don't know definite time you have to wait.

No I just meant when I sent my sponsorship, I included in the same envelope my open work permit application. So I got my open work permit the same time as my AIP.

Hi Arif_haq!

I got the exact same letter this week! I just did my payment a few hours ago, one of my friends who did all the process recently told me once you do the payment it takes like a week for them to call you or send you an email to schedule an appointment and it is usually in 2 weeks from when they contact you!

Did you do your payment already? I will let you guys know when they contact me so we can all have an idea of how long does it take.

... maybe some of us will be doing interviews the same day! It would be cool if that happens!!! We can meet after and go for a beer to celebrate! hahahaha!!!
Hello Loops,

Yes, I have paid as well, but I was told by one of friends that payment has nothing to do with when they call us for the interview.

Lets hope that we would get something next week. :)

Hello everyone!

In my dream this morning, I got a letter from CIC and it was DM! I hope my dream comes true soon. Before I get DM, I need AIP, though. :p

Anyone gets a good news? I'm looking forward to hearing it. :D

Hi im just wondering what gcms stand for and how to request it
GCMS - Global Case Management System
An example of the GCMS notes is here: http://www.gcmsnotes.com/Sample_GCMS_File.pdf

GCMS is the system each immigration office now uses. GCMS replaced the CAIPS (Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System) and FOSS (Field Operations Support System).

1. To Request your GCMS notes from immigration, there is an $5.00 cost. The payment must be by cheque or money order.

2. The person who makes the request must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident. So usually the sponsor but it can be another family member or friend.

The immigration forms are here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5563E.pdf
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm5475e.pdf

(The first form is the main one, the second one is the form which gives your authorisation for the information to be released. So for example the sponsored person authorises the sponsor to receive the information).

Private companies also offer the service for $40 to $60. (Even though the sites say caips, they send you the GCMS notes, the sites were setup when they were still using caips).

For Stage 2 of the Sponsorship Process, this is what immigration are checking.

For your information, the call centre has access to immigration, security and criminality. I don't know whether they can see all 9 things but I would have thought that they can.

Hello everyone. I hope y'all had a good Easter weekend.

I was wondering...
If I had my police certificate and medical exam documents ready before AIP was issued, should I go ahead and fax+mail them in? Or should I wait for AIP and the request from CPC-V?

QuebecOkie, any sign of your FBI documents yet? How was your anniversary?

Btw, is anyone currently registered in a full-time MICC offered French course in Montreal? If so, which one? I'd really like to enroll in a French language course as soon as I receive AIP.

Really?? I called CIC and they asked me to mail them the receipt of payment, so I thought I had to send it and once they get it they will contact me.

Anyway!! Let me know when they contact you for an interview!!! :)

I called them twice just to be sure, I read the following part from the email to them:

Fees must be provided to the Immigration Centre in Montreal when you are scheduled to obtain your confirmation of permanent residence document.

Both agents told me that I would have to wait for the interview, and the receipt of payment should be provided during the interview. I have already paid the amount but did not do anything with the receipt.

I received the police certificate in the mail on April 9. Quite a relief to get it. I knew I'd never been arrested, but there was a part of me that still worried there would be some administrative error somewhere, or that my fingerprints would be unreadable, or SOMETHING. I mailed off the medical report summary and police certificate on April 10. Now just crossing my fingers that it gets matched up with my file.

Our anniversary is tomorrow. We have (well, I *think* we have, lol, the real test will be arriving at the restaurant, because I'm terrible on the phone in french) reservations at a nice restaurant tomorrow evening. We tried to schedule a spa day in the afternoon, but they couldn't get us both in for a massage, so we'll try it again some other time.
