Hi Tomorisu

Welcome to the forum! Chicadee is correct, you will get lots of useful information.

I'm using my phone right now, so I'll add you to the Quebec Inland Spreadsheet tomorrow.

Hi there!

I'd like to join this group. I'm Japanese. Many Japanese choose apply outland, so it's not easy for me to get information about inland, especially from Quebec.

Here is my time line,
Application received at CPC Vegreville, 07 Dec 2012
AOR, 21 Jan 2013
Start processing file, 21 Jan
CSQ Application sent, 18 Feb
CSQ Received, 18 Mar

I'm waiting for AIP.
By the way, MICC says the decision of MICC will be sent directly to CIC. On e-cas, can we know that CIC received the decision?

I hope we can get a good news soon!

Bienvenue (welcome) Tomorisu! No, I didn't receive any confirmation from CIC that they received my CSQ (the decision from MICC about sponsorship). I got a little bit nervous, so I emailed CIC, and they did confirm that they have my CSQ. So now I wait for AIP, too. It could be...any day now! Or...months from now. :'(

On a happy note, a week from tomorrow is our first wedding anniversary, and I FINALLY worked up my nerve to try to call to make a reservation at a restaurant that the hubby and I have been wanting to try out. (I knew NO french when I arrived, well, I knew my ABC's, 1-10, please, thank you, and..."what is it? it's a bike," haha! I've been slowly learning.) I mostly do okay in person; I struggle through with my bad french and can do most things that I need to. I even managed to get the guy at Canadian Tire to put my new windshield wipers on, haha! But the phone...the phone is TERRIFYING to me. I don't understand spoken french well at all, and the strong accent up here is even harder for me (I do better in Québec or Montréal). And on the other end, many people here don't understand your french at all if you have a strong accent; they're just not used to hearing many people at all who aren't from here. But...I finally worked up my nerve, called the restaurant, and made our dinner reservations! I didn't even have to ask the nice woman who I spoke with to repeat herself, nor did she ask me to repeat myself! I was literally shaking when I got off the phone, it makes me so nervous, but I also might have sung a little bit of "We are the champions" to myself, out loud. ;D

Hi jg84,

Thank you for adding me to the spreadsheet. It's very useful. I showed it to my husband last night. He was also happy to know other people's timeline.

Hi QuebecOkie,

Félicitations pour votre anniversaire de mariage! :D
Well, I'm glad to write in English here. I'm learning French, but it's not easy... :'(
Thank you for telling me about confirmation of CSQ. If nothing happens until the end of this month, I'll e-mail CIC and ask whether they received my CSQ.

About me. I've had a medical exam on November 2012. I've sent a police certificate and the application for Open work permit with the application for permanent residence packages. Last week, I also applied for extension of my visitor visa by online. A lot of money had gone... ??? Only just waiting is tough, isn't it?

The 8 months is their way of saying, we have no idea, we'll read what the website says.

I have a question, I know you sent your medical later but when the AIP was completed. Had you sent everything? The reason I'm asking is I think if they don't have everything. They don't check your file again for 4 months from the date it was originally checked, they write the date in your GCMS notes.

When I had to give extra info for my AIP, that is what she said. If I don't give it within 5 days, no one would check my file again for 4 months.

The only way of knowing is requesting your GCMS notes. In the notes the date when they next check your file is written.

The background checks could be complete though, just CPC Vegreville hasn't checked for them yet, they are linked to your GCMS file.

The other thing could be is that someone who has a similar name to you has an criminal record, if that happens, it does take 3 to 4 months for the background checks to be completed. I was also advised that when I was sorting my AIP (a few weeks to 3 months). She has no idea either.

Welcome Tomorisu.
Actually you can call CIC call centre to confirm if they got your CSQ, at least you know right away. And if you submitted the Open work permit application with the PR package, don't think you need to extend your visa though.
As for French, I guess many of us here are learning here, not easy. Yet, I thought comparing to English and Cantonese (which is my native language), Japanese is more similar to French in sentence structure and way of expression, no?

Hi chrischengwy! I'm in my second part-time french course (through the military family resource center - hubby's military), and the only other student in there with me is a friend whose first two languages are Cantonese and Mandarin. She said English was a lot easier for her to learn than French seems to be so far. I have no perspective. Whereas she is learning her fourth language in her third, haha, I've only the one language, English.

Decision Made Family Class Sponsorship Within Canada

Hello Everyone,

We live in Montreal, Quebec. My wife have sponsored me in the category Family Class Sponsorship Within Canada. We have got the CSQ last year in June. Last week we have received an email from Case Processing Centre Vegreville which says:

"This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. We are pleased to advise you that processing of your application has been completed. The Canada Immigration Centre in Montreal will contact you concerning your permanent resident status.

The Right of Permanent Residence Fee of $490.00 is required before you can become a permanent resident in Canada. To date this fee has not been paid and the confirmation of permanent residence document will not be issued until payment is made. Please be prepared to submit the total fee of $490.00. Fees can be paid online at ..... You must print a receipt of payment. Fees must be provided to the Immigration Centre in Montreal when you are scheduled to obtain your confirmation of permanent residence document.

Please note: At the time of your appointment, you and your family members, if any, will be required to present the original identification document(s) to the Canada Immigration Centre. A final decision concerning the granting of permanent residence status will be
made at that time. If permanent residence is granted, the name that will appear on the confirmation of permanent resident document is your name as it appears on your passport or identity documents."

When I check client status online this is what I get:

"We received your application for permanent residence on November 18, 2011.

We started processing your application on September 3, 2012.

Medical results have been received.

A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision."

I have called CIC but they could not give ETA about when the Montreal office would contact me . We have got only the email, have not got any documents via mail yet.

Any ideas about how long can it take?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yah I had sent everything, including medicals (but they still asked for new ones). I had done everyyyyyything for a perfect swift application, but I guess its got stuck somewhere along the line. I hope they don't ask for a new police check, because by the time they're done "processing" it'll be out of date again.

First of all congratulations on the processing being completed!!!

The landing interview for Montreal from the information people who have done it have said that it is around 2 weeks after getting the Final Decision. (People do advise that Montreal seems to be quite quick).

Other areas are considerable longer, 1 to 2 months.

We actually have about 4 people also waiting for the CIC to contact them about their Landing Interview, there files were completed a little before yours. Hopefully they will let us know how long it has taken for their landing interview to be scheduled.

OK so when they requested the new medicals, they either had a 4 month time limit for the file to be next checked.

Or the background checks have taken 3 or 4 months. Whichever it isn't usually longer than that to wait.

The police check is used by the person doing the background checks, the medical is used by the main person processing your file. This is what the problem is, the main person is waiting for the background person.

Hopefully now they have everything for my file, the information they requested has been received on the 27 March. Now it is just waiting time again. I just hope they don't wait for my bring forward date was put in my file.

The background checks (Immigration, Criminality, Security) say in-process, hopefully now it is just them to finish off.

Thank you very much for your reply jg84. I just hope it takes less than a month as I am planning to travel in the middle of May. :)

Oh ok well it should be sorted by then but you know that after you have to wait some time for the Permanent Resident Card. Really you should have the card before you travel. You can ask for the permanent resident card as urgent. If not you should take the Permanent Resident papers with you, so you can get back into Canada.

You can even let them know that you will be travelling or get a travel document so they will defintley get back into Canada.

I would request the PR card as urgent and you should have it before you travel. They advise not to travel until you receive it.

Well, unfortunately, Japanese grammar is completely different from French one. :'(

You live in Sagenay!? Wow, my parents-in-law live there, too. I live in Quebec city and many people here speak only French.

By the way, I'm wondering why sponsor doesn't need to show any proof of incomes? Even if we sent an application for CSQ, MICC doesn't ask us about the proof.

To everyone! Have a good weekend! ;)
