What did CIC tell you?
I was also told that you don't need to do anything, although it is written on my CSQ that it depends if the VO would request it. I then called CIC and they told me that I don't need to do anything. So things should be ok :D
That was our problem. It was written on our letter from the CIC that we had 4 months to apply to the MICC then send them the CSQ. On the letter from the MICC is said if the CIC request the CSQ you need to send them copy 3. I thought I had read somewhere on this forum that I didn't need to send it but my wife was adamant we did. So I called CIC call center and they said That the MICC would send a copy but I could also send a copy and if I did make sure it goes to vegreville "general correspondence," so I asked here and now feel much more confidant.

When there is an ambiguity, call CIC and see whether they have received your documents. The best thing is to look for your local deputy to help you. They totally have the power to check multiple things for you, although it is also possible that they don't know anything about immigration either. My deputy helped us a lot by checking things ahead. It reassures us and prepares us.

Hi guys,

Do you know how long does it takes for CIC to get the medicals after you do them? Mine were done 3 weeks ago.

From your own experience how long did it took to get yours? I just wanna have an idea and know when can I call CIC or check Ecas to see if they got them... or start freaking out because they haven't! :p

Loops,

It took CIC 6-7 weeks to acknowledge they got my new medicals - it appeared on ECAS. But from my understanding, you may never find out - it depends on your officer and what notes they put up. The call centre 'may' be able to tell you, but they were no help to me, I don't think they see much more than us.

I got my AIP today!!!

As you may have seen I haven't commented on here since the middle of last week. That is because I got a call from CPC Vegreville, MJ the woman who is processing my file. (I know, speaking to and knowing who is processing my file does feel a bit weird). Anyway she wanted some more evidence to show commonlaw (12 months), I already sent a lot but anyway... she gave me until today to get the information. I sent it today by fax and it was ok.

If I didn't have the info, she said she'd have to send a letter and no one reviews your file again for 4 months!!!

The one useful thing though is I got a proper update on my file, medical and police check for UK, all ok. All they are waiting for is the RCMP check for Canada which she said can take a few days to 3 months...

Thanks!

She said last Wednesday that she needed something with both names, from August 2011 to August 2012. I got joint bank statements for every month to fax to her. Then today she started asking for other things but I advised a lot of what she was asking for, I had already sent - like lease and current bank statement. She also said about me needing medical results and police certificate. I advised that I had already sent them, she then looked in my file and found them. Bit worrying how you could have to do something again, when it is right there in front of them

In the end, all she wanted was 3 bank statements and just the first page of each!!!

Congrats, it's good that things are working out for you. I'll have to do the RAMQ also.

I did apply for the open work permit with my application. I was already on an open work permit, so I applied for the extension.

Excellent work!
I was speaking to the RAMQ last week and was informed that if you call them and open a new file then send them the documents they need: The 3 Month waiting period starts the day they open your file. I hope this works for you and that you can continue updating us with your progress.

Also you received AIP and the OWP by email I assume?

Yeah thanks, I just phoned them today and opened my file, so my 3 month waiting time has now started. As I only have the RCMP check to go and I have no criminal record, I hope that it won't take to long.

I got the AIP by email, the Open Work Permit has been approved but it is sent separately, I'm thinking that it will come in the post.

Your probably right about that. Interestingly I read an article written a couple of years ago criticising CPC Vegreville for asking for things which had already been sent to them. Also from speaking with MJ, she made it sound like things are a bit unorganised there, she said that files go through lots of different people.

I said previously that the letters you are sent (email or post) at the bottom has the initials of the person who sent that letter. Each one for me has different initials.

Oh by the way, I now have a fax number for CPC Vegreville. What I had to do is, write - For the attention of MJK/I (Her initials) then my UCI Number - ******* on the top of every page sent. She said if you don't write that on the fax, they just throw it in the bin. Someone checks the fax machine and gives it to them.

Also when she phoned Monday morning at 9 am, she advised that they were just turning the fax machines on. So they are turned off at weekends, but then are they also turned off each night also?

After getting AOR and our CSQ, I decided to go ahead and submit another application for the immigrant french course. I figured I still didn't qualify, but hell, what else do I have to do? Might as well send it in.

Well, today I got a call. It was a gentleman from Québec's Ministère de la Culture et des Communications. First of all, I TOTALLY UNDERSTOOD HIM ON THE PHONE! Not for a lengthy conversation, but after I asked him to please speak slowly, as I don't understand french well, he asked if there was someone who could help me with french on the phone (all of this exchange en français, bien sûr!), so I replied that my bilingual husband was home and could help. It was exhilarating to actually understand spoken french! Then I realized...he's not from around here, haha. My husband confirmed, after he spoke at some length with the gentleman, that he definitely didn't sound Québecois, but rather like he was from Europe.

Anyhow...the guy called to ask for more documentation to prove my PR app had been received. We didn't get a letter saying my app was received, but we did get a letter saying my husband's app was received, and listing both of our UCIs. Additionally, my status on ecas shows "Application received." So we sent him a screen cap of my ecas, my husband's, and the one letter we did receive from CIC, and hopefully he'll be able to get me into a french program.

Even if he can't...it was a pretty great ego boost to understand spoken french! I'll eventually learn to tune my ear to the accent in Québec, I'm sure. ESPECIALLY once I get some more intensive schooling in french!
