Me and my Husband's application was received in Mississauga on Sept 5, 2012... and now I'm starting to doubt myself. I wasn't supposed to send the Quebec Undertaking App or the Quebec Selection Cert. App with the app, was I? Aren't I supposed to send them in AFTER getting AOR?
Are you applying inland (already in Canada) or outland (from your country) ?
Because if it is inland the file is usually processed by Vegreville AB...Mississauga is for outland application.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp
Regarding undertaking App for Quebec (CSQ) you must wait the letter from CIC asking you to do so.
An AOR is not enough to proceed with Quebec step, it must be an invitation letter from CIC usually that happens around 4 months after the file is received.

We got my wife's OWP last friday, she will go to Service Canada Office downtown Montréal to apply for her temporary SIN, hopefully we will get the AIP letter very soon. On her permit it is written they extend her status of "temporary resident", anyone has any experience with SAAQ to have an international driving license exchanged for a Quebec one ? I know they don't exchange a driving license for visitor but how about a temporary resident ? In any case I will call them, but I wanted to know if anyone had a clue.

I will answer my own question in case it might help others.
The SAAQ agent told me an OWP is fine for a Quebec driving license exchange since it gives a temporary resident status.
Implied status is not recognized by SAAQ so just with an AIP without OWP it won't do; maybe the reason some claimed only when both stages were done we could exchange the driving license.
The only thing is you need an appointment and today I could only get one as early as Nov 6th.
We need to bring proof of address, passport, OWP and both the actual driving license and a translation of it (she is german).

We received mail from CIC today, a letter addressed to my sponsored wife telling her she would receive the OWP she received last friday but no AIP letter for her per see which sucks...
The letter for me the sponsor confirm I meet the requirement and what are my duties etc...
Hope we will get the actual AIP letter for my wife; we check both emails and ECAS and of course nothing.
Lets be patient, at least she got her OWP and usually they proceed only when AIP is granted but with bureaucrats we never know; I will celebrate when I have the actual paper in my hand.

edit[/b ]
Back home I realized my wife received AIP because while I was at work she had just told me about the OWP reference forgetting to tell me it was written that "la demande avait été jugée recevable" I guess it translate into approved in principle.
They then mention that they now need to check medical security background and that is 2nd stage so we really have something to celebrate.
Both OWP and AIP are dated sept 10th.

Unfortunately no, it says only in process; with medical results received however.
We still have to be a bit patient I guess, but frankly with AIP and OWP we can live pretty much normally finally as we don't plan to travel out of the country...

Hi all,

Today my sponsor and I received an email from CPC-V with the following text:
This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the spouse or common-law partner in
Canada class.
It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent resident status
as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. However, a final decision will not be
made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met.

There was also enclosed a pre-filled form to do the medical exams.

Do I have to wait for a letter in the mailbox or can I print it and use it to apply for an OWP and the provincial health insurance?

I did not expect it so early since my file was received on February 2nd, 2012 and they started processing it on May 15, 2012.

wow! congrats!
maybe you'll get DM for stage 2 soon! if you got the AIP email, just print that for RAMQ (like i did), bring house lease if you have as i've been told they will not accept bank statements as proof of address.

i got aip thru email and never received my actual letter in the mailbox, since cic has this thing going on that once you got an email they will not send a letter thru mail...

Hi Lyn,

Thanks for your answer. I have already done my medicals. Actually I did them the day before receiving the email from CIC. I don't think this will speed up the process, but at least it is something else done. Do you know how roughly it takes from AIP to DM. Is there an interview in the between?
Thanks again.
