Yeah it sounds weird, but it makes more sense from the applying outland perspective...people actually land when they are done with the process because they must still reside in their origin country until the end of the process which of cours shorter anyway...
For us Inlanders that just refers to when we have the final interview at the office and they tell us : "welcome to Canada" even if you have been patiently waiting for more than 1 year in many cases ...
Vinlander, I noticed that you and many other posters have a line "Medical done" which is at a later date than the "Application Filed" date.
This has me worried because we made sure that my husband Medical was done before we filed the application. I could swear we followed the guide to a tee, but now I am not so sure we should have done that.
Especially that we now know it takes them so long to process, and I am concerned that when they finally get to our case, they will ask us to redo the medical, which will be an additional expense to an already very expensive process. :'(

That part was a little bit confusing on CIC documentation because it is included on the checklist but at the same time it was written somewhere that it will be requested in time by CIC.
I looked back on the instructions IM5289 and it seems they suggest to send it upfront to save time when they would have to request it...don't know if that suggestion was there at the time we followed these instructions.
The document seems to have been upgaded on 2012-06-04 so ...
In our case we waited to get our UCI and we did the exam in order to save some time at the end when they would request it for 2nd stage (they can be slow to process new information or open mail).
What I read is that depending if your exam was close to the date your file was sent, you might be OK. I guess a medical exam is good for 1 year so based on that, by the time they start to work on 2nd stage around 11 months will have passed and it should be enough. Furthermore, I read many times here people getting extension for the medical validity and many did not need to redo it despite it was beyond 12 months.
I would not worry...

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain, Vinlander.
I am in awe of all the nice people I met on this forum. It is very comforting to know we are not alone.

as suggested by perkele to have my meds done, I went to centre medical in plaza cote des neiges, I told to the receptionist my case, that I have submitted my application under spouse but didn't include any medical report, so she said okay. I showed her a copy of my confirmation letter and section A. She took both and wrote my application number on the upper right side of the Section A stating FOSS client ID. She booked my appointment, and said come back friday, bring thhis section A, 4 pictures, passport and $205 cash. I wil let you inform again after my medical is done! ;D

I don't remember anything about Section A... maybe it's new? (Though the form says May 2004)
Has anyone else had to use this form? When my boyfriend went to his appointment they literally only asked for the visa office doing the process and the money, of course.

But good! Keep us posted :)

Isn't it the form itself ?

We did fill it as far as I can remember, I'll need to check back home.

Yeah I remember seeing that form a while ago but not through the application guide.
I remember looking at all sorts of different information last year because I was confused about when to do the medical, etc. and I remember finding that form somewhere but I don't remember it being posted on the guide (December 2011). I just spoke to my boyfriend and he confirmed that he didn't have that when he went for his medical. I hope this doesn't cause any delays for our application. It's weird though that they wouldn't update the date on the form. It's 8 years old!!! It's also weird that the doctor's office didn't request it. We also called them back about a month after the exam to confirm that it was sent out and that we didn't require any forms or anything... ???

Could be they already had such a form and filled it themselves based on questions they asked you, if we look at the form, only the top part is for the applicant, the rest including the signature is for the doctor. You could give a call to your medical center to clear that out.

MICC stands for Ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés Culturelles (Quebec Office managing Immigration requests since it is federal jurisdiction)
As opposed to all the other provinces, Quebec is distinct as they also must approve and deliver a certificate of selection (CSQ).
What happen is during 1st stage, CIC is sending a letter asking to continue with MICC to get such a certificate. When delivered, a copy is also sent to CIC that will continue to process the PR file.

hello people! my medical exam is done, so now I am sending to vegreville my proof of the exam, I wrote outside the envelope my husband's UCI and note that it's for proof of medical exam.

By the way I was reading another thread, INland app 2011, some people there who filed their application in october 2011 are getting their AIP thru mail already! Have a happy long weekend everyone!

hi again, I hope it's a good news, I happen to check my hubby's email this afternoon and this is what I saw, CPC email communication, subject permanent resicency application, and it says:

"This refers to the Application to sponsor a member of the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in
Canada Class you submitted to this office on behalf of XXXXXXX and family (if
applicable).
You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. The Application for Permanent
Residence will be processed separately and the applicant will hear from this office shortly."

and the rest of the letter contains the years of undertaking, obligations etc... could this be THE AIP?

and also, I checked my email and this is what I got:

"This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the spouse or common-law
partner in Canada class.
It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent resident
status as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. However, a final
decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident
have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks for you
and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they are not
applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident until you
and all your family members have met these requirements.
In order to continue processing your application in Canada further information is required. You
must complete/submit the following information to the Case Processing Centre:
Immigration legislation requires that all applicants for permanent residence and their family
members if applicable complete medical examinations. The examination must be conducted
by one of the panel physicians. To obtain a list of panel physicians in your area please visit
the CIC website at http://www.cic.gc.ca or contact the Call Centre, toll free, at 1-888-242-2100.
It is your responsibility to contact one of these panel physicians and make the necessary
appointment."

I was about to send the proof of my med but I guess Im going to have to wait for the letter in the mailbox before sending it... God is GOOD!
