Hey everybody,

I tried looking for a way to start my own thread but couldn't find any place to click.

So here's my story and if you feel i have to start my own thread please let me know how.

Me and my sister came to Canada as refugees through the American/Canadian border in 2000 when i was 9 years old. Our Aunt, sponsored us and we were allowed in. I lived in Canada for 2 and a half years. My aunt decided to take me back to Somalia telling me it was a 2 week holiday but instead left me here. Its now been almost ten years since i departed from Canada. For those ten years i have been mislead by my aunt, she told me i could never come back to Canada claiming that all my documents are invalid. So, i lived ten years in Somalia not knowing there was a chance. On the other hand, my sister never left Canada. Shes now a Canadian citizen and lives and works in Toronto. I have no information on my PR status or if i even had one. My aunt hide every single detail from me.

Here are my questions?

1- Since i lived in Canada for 2+ years does that mean i had a PR status?
2- If i were to tell the embassy my case will my aunt be charged for what she has done to me?
3- From 1-10 what is the likeliness of me getting back my PR card and a PRTD? Since i was a minor when i departed from Canada and when it wasn't my fault for not meeting the PR residency status
4- If i do go to the Canadian embassy i have no documents what so ever to prove who i am, no travel document, no PR card. But i could contact the school i last attended when i was in Canada and they could provide my info and they could probably trace my PR status from there? What do you think?

Hi,
this sounds complicated. from your explanation it seems you were a PR since you were approved to come in. I know there is a time period with the PR. if you leave the country for more than a specified time you can lose your PR, the PR status requires a PR to stay in Canada 730 days in 5 years period, so you've been out of the country much longer than that, there are some exceptions though. in terms of your aunt getting charged i'm not sure. but I think its a good idea to get any evidence from Canada you can get then go to the embassy and explain your situation.
i'm sure they will have many questions as to why your aunt did this. but either way going to embassy should be a good idea. you should also call CIC and explain your situation or at least your sister can contact CIC here and explain.

good luck.

1. No - this doesn't mean that you have PR status. You might have had PR status or you might not have.
2. No.
3. It depends if you had PR status when you left. This is the key question. If you had PR status when you left then I think there's a good chance you can get your PR status back. If you did not have PR status when you left then there's nothing to get back.
4. I would ask your sister for help. Can she provide any information about what status you had when you left Canada? You can also try contacting your school.

Hi,
if you haven't received AIP and you are asked to attend an interview mean most likely they want more evidence and proof that your relationship is genuine. so if you have to provide solid evidence and proof to show you have a genuine relationship. try to provide with all the evidence you can.
what is your time line?
