What it the timeline for background check? How many months it will take?

i guess after background check complete we will get Medical request. right?

Lol, I told you..u'll get some good news.. the way I see it..it's a good news that they replied with some time frame, right?? When I sent them email asking my application they replied saying.. "Your application is in process. No further action is required by you at this time. An immigration officer will be in contact with you if any further correspondence is needed.We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum. "

It looks like their approximate timeline is the case should be finalized within 13 months or so... after it arrived to their office...again...don't know what process they follow..I mean FIFO or random!! cuz they received ALL files from buffalo around the same time..now these files were actually from 2009/10/11/12 !!

Anyways, hope for the best..there isn't anything for u to do at this time.. except being patient...all the very best for next few months dude...

Today I received the following reply from immigration minister's office in reply to my inquiry.
"Our records confirm that your application was received at the Case Processing Pilot-Ottawa (CPP-O) in July 2012, where officers have initiated statutory background checks. Please rest assured that you will be contacted should additional information, documentation or a personal interview be required.

Current statistics based on historical processing data indicate that officers in Ottawa are finalizing 80% of applications in this category in approximately 13 months from the date of receipt of the completed application. Therefore, it appears that this application is proceeding normally with no unexpected or unwarranted delays.

Is that mean they will finalize my application within 13 months which is August 2013. I ordered my GCMS notes in October 2012 but no background check was initiated at that time. Now they mentioned that officers has already initiated my background check.

When you send a case specific inquiry to visa office Ottawa you get the same reply which you got. I sent an email to immigration minister and got this reply.

Got an email yesterday from Ottawa, they are finally asking for my passport.

So Guys,

Yesterday I checked my Xpress return envelop of Canada Post with my passport back sticked with Immigrant Visa valid upto May,2014 I took exactly 28 days to get back my passport with CPR, they put a stamp on my Work Permit which was still valid upto May, 2014 inscribed that "Cancelled without prejudice", who cares ehh?

Now I've scheduled my journey to US border at this Saturday to finalize my landing and have some chill time over Niagara falls ;D

I'll keep you posted next week regarding my landing experience.

Stay calm and keep praying for eachother who're still struck in the processing, I know this is long tiring wait but eventually you'll made your day, don't panic or frustrate, your turn will come soon.

Thanks seniors and all who helped me to get through this long waiting moments.

I got some positive news today. I checked ECAS and it has been updated. It now says Processing has begun on my application as of May 4th 2013.

I don't think i did. I did email Jason Kenney telling him the situation....my job and who i work for about a month ago. But then again i had send that to him previously also.
