you can also try in trackitt.com for timelines.

Hi,

Thanks but couldn't get any relevant info on the site! I am going to add my data on though so that it will be helpful to someone else.

Melanie

Hi melbell_28

when i emailed the visa office in sri lanka this what they said
"Please be informed that this file has been paperscreened and it has been placed in the queue to be reviewed by the officer".

What ever that means... :-\. i think there waiting for an immigration office to pick up my application for final processing.

ahh you're lucky that they even gave you that response because I haven't gotten anything from them except that they recieved the app.

so if you applied in august you should be getting it pretty soon don't u think? i'd say a max of 3 months more for you from what i've read.

it's a pain that the colombo office is sooo sloooooow. did u know that the police report that they do internally can take upto 6 months to clear? insane right?

i have my fingers crossed for you gayan!

hi

ya i can see that the Colombo office is slow.... thats how there here in sri lanka its not just immigration. its the same with police headquarters, department of immigration and emigration, they cant even speak English. thats what i hate about sri lanka. its hard to get things done on time....lol

melbell_28 one more thing.... : :P when you said 3 more months did u mean from January so that means march... :'(. thats a long way ;D :o

yeah march, april! we gotta wait until at least june/july because thats the earliest u could get the visa!

i know what you mean about them being slow.. its so hard waiting around for them to do anything.. and they have already lost one of our police certs!

ahhh anyways, keep me posted on what's happening. we got the letter for the missing police cert on friday (sent from the colombo office to hubby) we are resubmitting a certified copy on monday or tuesday. shall let u know how it goes.

cheers.

Did you guys get any update?
I applied in Oct and application has been forwarded to Colombo in Nov. We haven't heard any thing from colombo so far. I sent an email and asked status of my application. No reply so far. Not sure what is going on.

hey melbel...how r u?.......i went to the colombo office in person........they told me that the application has been screen into the system and waiting for a officer to review the app...........but i haven't received the aor letter yet.........this is my update......

Hi Rathika!

Oh good if they at least responded to you.. Did you go and ask to speak to someone there? How did u do it?? I want to ask my hubby to do the same..

Mel

PS - How are u enjoying ur time in sri lanka? :)

Good to hear it from you Rathika.
I dont know why they dont want to give us the time line. Such as, you will get the visa with in 2 month or 3 months...something like that. At least we can prepare stuff here. Like buying house hold stuff, renting house and so on..

Gayan,
quick q..r u being sponsored or u r sponsroing ur wife? why do they say ur sponsor do not have intentions of going to Canada?
And..how would u include ur wife in the lease agreement before she even gets to Canada(if ur sponsoring)
Anyway..I'm from Sri Lanka too...one of my friends applied last May and he is still waiting for his wife's visa...just some info...not to make u all upset...be positive though..it's just a matter of time! Good luck!

I'm sponsoring my wife. I've been living with her here for sometime so that's why i cant get a job offer. about putting her name on the lease not sure, I'm still checking up on that. i did mention that she will be living with my parents in the same apartment i don't know why i need to explain even more. :'(

I guess u just need to document everything to show evidance..like I read in one of ur replies...what work you would be doing for your father..how much will you be paid(is there a formal employment contract?) if you were doing job searches...may be you can show them jobs you've applied for...some people get rid of all their assets in the home country to show they are ready to leave...May be a letter from the Land lord in Canada that they are aware your wife and you will be staying at your parents apartment and they will include them in the lease agreement when you arrive (that is if they cannot include you already) any and everything that will prove you want to go back with ur wife!!!
