What did you mean by parallel processing. I have not come across any evidence for that. They process applications on a first in first out method. New cases are not getting processed along with the old cases.

There have been some rumours 2014 files are getting pulled out for File transfer and medical requests. Hard to believe though but there have been more than one person confirming that.

Guys,

If a medical on file is expiring in a month and all required documentation has been supplied or submitted accordingly and within time, do you think there is enough time to get visa prior to expiration of medical. Assuming PPR is received within a week or so.

Yes. Also I think cic would ask if you are able to land in that time. I'm not sure but I read somewhere they can also extend the expiry of medicals, but I haven't been able to find that documented anywhere.

They have lot of time. They complete everything with in 8 months unless any thing serious

Essentially the same topic which has been addressed here before.

Not all applications can be resolved due to various reasons and CIC moves on to the next batch. So by parallel I mean that there will be applications from 2009 still pending while 2010 apps are being processed, of which there will be 2010 applications which are pending while 2011 ones are worked on and so forth.
FIFO doesn't mean you spin indefinitely until all previous applications are resolved, it means they'll process them in the order they're recieved. So if they've processed (doesn't necessarily mean a visa was issued) the previously recieved applications but there still are some unresolved ones, CIC can't just waste resources not doing anything until every applicant from batch 2010 has gotten their act together before starting on 2011.

The first in first out queue is for processing not for visa issuances, otherwise the system wouldn't be fair.

While I agree with you regarding your example of "parallel processing " I think the question here was about the extent of the perceived backlog.

My understanding is that anyone yet to have received visas is regarded to be part of the backlog. Therefore everyone from 2008, 09, 10, 11 14, 15 and even 2016 who has not received PGP visa yet makeup the backlog.

Yes some are further up the ladder to getting visas than others but still in the backlog.

Returing to the govt release that 20000 visas will be issued in 2016 for PGP and that this will reduce the backlog by 15% means that there are a lot of people awaiting visas in the PGP category.

The maths does not allow Under 70000 people to be in the backlog as you mentioned because that will not equal 85%.

Finally a good news to share, I have received the passports back today with visa.

As my parents are already in Canada, I will be flagpolling in next 1-2days.

This forum has been a lot of support and I would like to wish best of luck to everyone !!!!

Principal applicant needs to land first and then the dependents can land afterwards.
Also the dependents can land along with the principal applicant.
Only thing dependents can't do is land before the principal applicant.
