That's a polite way of saying don't do medicals until we ask you. Personally I think it is best to wait until medical request is received. However I can understand if someone else decides to have upfront medicals.
It is not a polite way of saying do not do medical. It clearly states that you can do medical but it will only be valid for a year.

But at your own risk & they advise you wait (like you quoted). My interpretation of this is don't do medical until we ask for them but if you want to that's your choice.

All medicals are valid only for 1 year

No jeleni, they did not specifically ask to send the passport which is why I'm a bit confused. Considering the attachments Appendix A and the passport photo specifications, I'm guessing it's already a passport request although the list of additional requirement only stated fully completed Appendix A. Kindly see excerpt below. But I already sent enquiry from CIC Manila. Will post it here once clarified.

In order to continue processing your application, we require the following information and/or documents:
· Fully Completed Appendix A (attached) for you and each of your family members, whether accompanying you to Canada or not. Passport details are not required for any family member who is not accompanying you to Canada. (Each person should complete his/her own form.)

· Valid National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance for Xxxxxxxx, issued within the last six months, with thumbprint and dry seal affixed. Please send us the original copy. “Personal Copy” is not accepted. DO NOT FAX YOUR NBI CLEARANCE.

NOTE: For NBI Certificates with “No Criminal Record” or “No Pending Record” remarks, when applicable, please provide the following additional information:

Ø Certification issued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) providing details of their records relating to the remark on your NBI clearance;

Ø Your own detailed explanation of the circumstances surrounding the case(s) listed in the NBI certification (i.e., specific information on date(s)/time(s), place(s), person(s) involved; how events transpired; legal actions involved; resolution or termination of the case;)

Ø All pertinent police reports, testimonies/affidavits/written evidence, court orders/decision/documents relating to the case(s) listed; and,

Ø If case has been dismissed: out of court settlement documents, affidavit of admission, or any other documents related to the dismissal of case.

· Police certificate from UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (Please see the CIC web site for details on how to obtain police certificates from different countries:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/index.asp).
Note: if the original police certificate is not in English or French, you must include a translated copy.

To ensure the timely processing of your application, the document(s) and information we have requested must be provided to us within THIRTY (30) days of the date of this letter.
If that's the case, i agree it's confusing. They either forgot to ask for passport on that email or they may ask for it later after you complied with the additional docs. Let's see what they will say.

I remember when we were also processing my son's spousal sponsorship of his wife, they also received a confusing email from CIC Manila and the email says something like this "at the bottom of this letter, you will find additional documents required in order to continue processing your application." But we cant find anything listed at the bottom, so I told my son to email CIC manila and ask if there are additional docs needed or nothing at all. In fairness, after two days they replied that there is nothing they require

I have posted you about medical of my father fixed on 20th may 2015 here in canada. cic ottawa has not yet replied about validity of earlier supervisa medical done in august 2014 in India. Nitinbali ji has very categorically given reference of validity of upfront medical for 12 months. on going through their post I felt relieved that cic has given instructions to all doctors to check by passport number as to whether earlier medical is still in system. let us see on wednesday in case no reply is received from cic ottawa we will go for medical. I also wish that soonihope who is also doing lot of service like you to the forum members should also get medical advice so that he should join all of us. What about your medical when you are going to complete the formality?

Hi Nitinbali You r great. Really u r gem. The information explored by you is exteremly help to all . it means penal physician in Mohali has misled my father that without IME you can't go for medical. Now cic is not responding to the email sent to avoid re examination as my father medical was completed for SUPERVISA on 9th August 2014 & now cic is asking for fresh medical The appoint with Dr fixed. Neither cic ottawa replying to email nor getting response over fone. I am bit puzzled what to do either my father should go for another medical? Pl suggest Rgds
Hi michelv,

I would advise you to contact the physician again with this information or rather pick another physician, possibly in Delhi (Max hospital has about 8 physician on panel). I would say hurry up to avoid missing 30 day deadline.

Yeah, wait for Ottawa's reply until Wednesday but if you dont get it just go ahead with the medical so you dont have to worry later when visa havent issued yet when Your dad's supervisa medical expires in August 2015.

My mom will do her medical today in Manila. I told her to visit private medical doctor first to ensure she has no health issues. Fortunately, she just had her annual check up last month and she said she was good. Hopefully, everything for all of us will be ok.

Hi Nitinbali60. Thnx for valuable suggestion & v v important medical rules quoted by you. Since my father is in Canada on Supervisa hence I can't send him to Delhi, however, we have decided to show medical ruled to Doctor tomorrow to chek as to whether earlier medical fone under passport nbrxxx is still in system & if it exist then Doctor can not create new case history. Volume of calls to CIC is so much that the call is automatically disconnects. I will carry last year IMM1017 & Doctor fee receipt yo request him to chek the system. Let us hope for the best.Rgds & keep it up by exploring various means in helping forum members.

You can check the trend on our spreadsheet. You can find the link at the bottom of my post. The timeline varies so we can't say how it goes in CIC office. Based on Lalu5's timeline, the first on our batch who finished the entire process, took him 2 months from medical request to passport request. And 3 weeks from passport request to visa received.

Hey Guys,

Hopefully I will also get medical request soon from cic but in the meantime I have a question about disclosing medical history to the panel doctor. My dad has hypertension, diabetes (insulin) and stent inserted for kidney arteries. All of this has been stable for over 4 years with bunch of medications. Does one see any importance of disclosing stent insertion to avoid un-necessary referral to kidney specialist by the panel doctor? Should one be completely honest to the panel doctor even though it could jeopardize the PR? Please advice.

Another thing to note is we are not 100% sure if the supervisa medical is accepted for PR specially for pareants and grandparents category. It is not documented anywhere. Medical for parents PR is different from all the other medicals since CIC categorizes it differently.

1) For Spouses and Dependents , medical is categorized as EDE (Excessive Demand Exempt) that means they will pass even if they have long term health care requirement.
2) Visitor (even Super Visa), Student and workers fall into a different medical category as they are expected to buy their own health insurance and cannot leech on govt health care.
3) For parents and grandparents, it is totally different and their medical is detailed and assessed if they will be a burden on health care or not. This leads me to believe that supervisa medicals may or may not be accepted for Parents PR as the requirements to pass the medical is different.

The following clipping from the link I posted previously suggest panel physician to either select visitor, worker, student or family EDE (spouses and kids falls under EDE) but does provide an option for Parents and Grandparents.

eMedical-enabled Panel Clinics

Panel physicians must first search eMedical for the client by their name and identity document number (e.g., passport number) to confirm that the client does not already exist in the system.
If the client does not exist in eMedical, click “create case.”
Enter the Client personal details (mandatory fields include Title, Family name, Gender, Date of birth and Country of birth).
Enter the Identity Document Details. Clinic staff will check identity with the approved identification document. (Note: a live photo of the client must be taken and uploaded to eMedical at a later step during the IME.)
Enter the Client’s Preferred Language.
In the “Proposed Visa Application Details” section, select the appropriate upfront category from the drop down list (student, worker, visitor or family EDE). Note: For refugee claimants in Canada, select the category family EDE, and scan and attach the document provided by the client.
Click “Create.”
Proceed to upload and attach client photograph.
Complete Identity Confirmation.
An “Information Sheet” letter will be system generated and must be printed and given to the client for submission to CIC along with the visa application.
